2022.10.07 22:26 mcdoggfather WTF Clarkson Eyecare!
I went in for my annual exam, copay is $10 for my insurance. My frames and lenses should have been another $10. Get the bill and can't see it, turns out it is over $350 in upcharges and non covered tests that I never approved. Also added some protection plan and said I need an eye heater treatment for $500. The doctor did say I had an issue with my eyes, but I can't trust the diagnosis because I just walked out of a car dealership style "doctors" office. I got my glasses online through my insurance for $9 shipping.

2021.05.10 17:35 arrison I’m at a loss
This is going to be long winded, sorry about that. I’m also not officially seeking medical advice, just personal accounts of your diagnosis process.
A few weeks ago I noticed a blind spot in my right eye. (Note: I have headaches occasionally, none that knock me out for the day. I have had tinnitus that comes and goes as long as I can remember which I chalked up to spending every weekend at very loud concerts in small venues. According to BMI I am considered obese, my weight has fluctuated significantly my whole life +20 lbs, -30lbs within a few months.) I went to a Clarkson Eyecare and the Optometrist there told me I have Papilledema. She also terrified me by holding my hand to tell me that this can only happen from something neurological like a tumor and sent me to the ER immediately.
At the ER, my BP was slightly elevated for me. I normally am in the 90/75 range. This time was 130/80, but I was also terrified I had a tumor in my brain. They performed a CT without contrast that showed unremarkable results. My BP lowered after my CT to around 96/70. They performed an unguided LP without measuring the pressure and did not save my CSF to run any testing on it. This was per the hospital’s neurologist, who the nurses called and double, triple checked he was positive to not check my pressure. I was also prescribed 500mg Diamox a day. They ended up piercing my dura a total of 4 times before they got it in the correct spot. I had incapacitating spinal headaches for 3 days before receiving a guided blood patch at a different hospital where the doctor confirmed I was leaking CSF from 4 puncture holes. 24hrs post blood patch I could walk again!! I want to write a thank you card to the doctor who gave me a blood patch lol.
Because the ER had my medical history I returned to the neurologist for my follow up. This was my first experience with anything IIH related, and I did not know my pressure should have been read. This neurologist was furious that they did not take a reading of my pressure and insisted on me getting another LP. I refused considering my experience with it. He suggested I see a neuro ophthalmologist from here on out and I’m currently on the hunt to find one.
Some questions I have for you guys with experience in this: 1) If I were to receive an MRI w and w/o contrast, could that show increased CSF? I would rather not get another LP unless it’s an emergency. 2) Does Diamox make anyone else vomit daily? I mean it’s coming out of both ends for me, honestly. Simultaneously lol. I reduced my daily intake to 125mg in the morning and 125mg at night. My eye sight is improving. 3) I’ve read confusing accounts of weight being related to IIH. Just before my blind spot I lost about 9% of my total body weight and THEN this happened to me. Is it possible this was in the works long before I lost some weight? I do plan to lose more weight, I’ve been doing the ketogenic diet which has been working for me well. Could keto have anything to do with this? 4) Honestly if you’ve even read this far you’re incredible, wow, thank you. 5) Should I ask for a full panel on my hormone levels? I have only once had this done when I thought I had a thyroid or diabetes problem, it was negative for both issues. This was done 4 years ago. 6) I am terrified and still so upset at how each doctor I saw recently has handled this. Someone tell me there’s good doctors out there? 🥺

I didn't see a FAQ page or a sticky about what people generally think of different places to get eyeglasses. I have had experience with Clarkson eyecare. Was wondering if anyone has dealt with America's Best or other recommendations?

What the title says. I don't have "special eyes"; I've been going to Clarkson Eyecare and just haven't been happy with the cost of frames and the service. Who do you trust with your vision?

2013.04.12 19:29 HighSilence What do you think of having a "Throwback Thursday" at the ballpark?
I posted this in a less active subreddit so I'm putting it here now
When I watch baseball (or anything on TV), I mute the commercials. If available, we watch the game on delay and fast forward through commercial breaks thanks to DVR. I hate commercials. I'm not alone.
Last year at a St. Louis Cardianls baseball game, they ran an advertisement in between innings in which there was television static noise and the sound of a plug getting pulled. Then, for a brief moment, all the jumbotrons, scoreboards, signs, and sounds were shut off. Whoa. Effective. All I could hear was idle chit-chat and calls from the Beer Man.
And then, as the jumbotrons, screens, and Coca-Cola signs came back to life, a voiceover came on the PA talking about the local power company. Whew. Back in America. But all I could think about was those 10 seconds of commercial silence. What if a stadium could "go dark" for an entire baseball game? No thumping music in between innings, trivia games brought to you by Clarkson Eyecare, Attendance quizzes thanks to Subway, Calls to the bullpen brought to you by AT&T, etc. All you get is all you need: a working PA for player and game announcements, a scoreboard, and only the sights and sounds of baseball.
One game a year. Make it a special theme or promotion day that allows people to experience the way baseball used to look and sound. Sure the fabricated energy of walk-up music and between-innings trivia and games would be gone, but a different vibe would take its place and I think enough people would be interested in experiencing that.
Now clearly there are things that the sponsors won't like about this. The idea is simple but I don't know if it is at all possible because I don't know the intricacies of sponsorship contracts. But perhaps there is a way for the team to notify the companies that sponsor the games that there will be one game a year that will have virtually zero advertisements for their product.
Who knows? No, I'm actually asking who knows? What are your thoughts on the plausibility and potential popularity of this idea? (all those P's were accidental....purely)

2013.03.18 16:46 IKabobI Best place for Lasik in the St. Louis area?
My wife has always wanted Lasik surgery and we're finally in a position where it's an option (and her birthday is this week). I've heard several commercials on the radio for Lasik Plus and Clarkson Eyecare but don't know much about either (we're still relatively new to St. Louis). What are some of the better places to get Lasik? Anyone have any personal experience?
