Between this Cato news and a quite nice provocation (not in the bad way) I found in the NBA Draft sub (no reason to tag the guy here, since he's not a Mavs fan and I do not know him at all to start with), I started to think (or rather cope) with the loss of the draft pick and trading for a veteran. If this isn't a smokescreen, I believe we will be diving head first into the "build to win now" scenario. Considering this, I decided to play a little bit in Spotrac and see how far could we go in the roster build.
Disclosure, I'm following exclusively the Spotrac simulator, so any mistake cap-wise, send the e-mail to them, eh?
Disclosure #2: we will be hard capped if we use the BAE, so, yeah, no.
Scenario 1
a) DAL sends 10, 2027 FRP, Bertans to the Magic for WCJ
Honestly, WCJ is a secret in the open. He fits well a defense that switches a lot, considering how his feet is light, while he can anchor a defense to an extent. He can shoot from the perimeter, he is a legit amazing screener and a lob threat. He is a do-it-all C, on an amazing deal, that is just 24. Some might wrinkle the nose for trading 2 FRPs for him, but I think it is even kinda cheap. I'm not sure the Magic would do it, but who knows, maybe they want to package 6, 10 and 11. Three lottery picks has a lot of power, enough to either trade up hard if they want Scoot or even trade for an actual star. The deal, honestly, makes sense for both parties if we are to part ways with the pick.
A fun stat. Here's the shooting attempts that Embiid had in the last 3 games he faced WCJ: 9-18, 12-23, 11-33. If you want to say "Well, maybe the Magic has a good defense against Embiid". First, it's Embiid in Orlando, it's pretty much Luka against the Celtics. Second, WCJ did not play one game in that stretch: 18-23 and a 50pt party in 27 minutes.
b) We re-sign Kyrie for the max deal
Really, is there anything to say? If we are going this route, we are going with Kyrie.
c) Renounce the bird rights of Christian Wood
Bye bye, Wood, hope you learn how to play defense and set a screen somewhere else.
d) Sign Jalen McDaniels for the MLE
Now this starts to get interesting. Apparently, if we make those moves, at least according to Spotrac (again, I'm not a cookie smart enough to know the CBA that well to calculate the exceptions), we will have access to the full MLE. This open up the portfolio of players that we can acquire and I believe many will wander towards Dillon Brooks. However, I believe we may have a shot at signing McDaniels for the full MLE. Morey is emotional in his deals and McDaniels was an afterthought in their playoff run. Sure, Nurse is in the house, there may be a renewed interest into him, but there is a shot for him to come to Dallas for the full MLE, specially if we offer him a guaranteed starting role, which he would have. Also, if Philly re-signs Harden, they will probably be touching the 2nd apron, with Maxey's deal looming. Things could get rough.
e) Sign Pinson, Ntilikina and Powell to veteran minimum deals
Yes. They're more than decent depth, bring some locker room chemistry and have spot minutes usage in the court, specially Ntilikina. The whole "People forget about Frank" meme is a think, but Ntilikina playing spot minutes as a defensive specialist is a decent role and he could get more than the veteran minimum deal here.
Tax situation: we would be in the tax here (duh), but 6.3M over the tax. This would trigger the 1st apron, but we would be 10M +- clear of the 2nd apron, where things start to get really ugly.
Possible rotation: Luka/Kyrie/Green/McDaniels/WCJ, with Hardy, Bullock, Maxi and McGee playing an eventual playoff rotation. We can get bigger by rolling with a McDaniels/Maxi/WCJ rotation and bringing Green off the bench. There's some nice flexibility to get bigger or smaller here and WCJ is extremely versatile, enough to fit multiple defensive looks in a similar game.

a) DAL sends 10, 2027 FRP, Green, Hardy and Bertans to the Raptors for OG Anunoby and Achiuwa
This is Masai we're talking about. If he is to trade Anunoby and take in Bertans' deal, he will demand Hardy. I'm not making judgements here on the trade itself (everyone here knows I want to draft, even trade down in the draft itself), but if you folks wish OG Anunoby, this deal could entice Masai, specially for Green. Yes, I know what Cato said and I know Nico almost sank the Kyrie deal because the Nets wanted Green, but if we are to make a splash, this is the way. We're getting a DPOY-caliber wing and Achiuwa, that can play more than enough spot minutes here. Maybe we could keep Hardy if we took in Boucher instead? I don't know, but we would probably need to send Timmy as salary filler and Masai hates salary fillers that are not on an expiring deal so...a rough price, in general.
b) We re-sign Kyrie for the max deal
Same.
c) Renounce the bird rights of Christian Wood
Same.
d) Sign Brook Lopez for the MLE
We already went through this. The Mavs are very likely to roll with a switchable C instead of a classic one. However, if there is a C that is a perfect fit here, is Brook Lopez. Now, I believe he has a market for more than just the MLE. Since we are trying to take a, uh, positive approach here, let's presume he is lured by just the MLE and decides he had enough of Wisconsin and wants to roll in the Luka ride. I do not need to sell anyone on Lopez, I believe. For the MLE, it is a steal.
e) Sign Pinson, Ntilikina and Powell to veteran minimum deals
Same.
f) Sign Dragic for the veteran minimum
For once, we need another guard to come off the bench. Ljubljana Ultras, rejoice for the Dragon finally arrived in Dallas.
Tax situation: 11.8M deep in the tax, with a potential high OG deal in sight and the need to find a replacement for Timmy in 2 seasons...quite grim. If you guys want a win-or-bust scenario, here it is, because we are touching that 2nd apron soon.
Possible rotation: Luka/Kyrie/OG/Maxi/Brook, with Dragic, Timmy, Bullock and Achiuwa off the bench. A lot of firepower here, not gonna lie. We would need to see more Ntilikina than people are used to, considering the lack of backcourt defense with Green gone, but this would be peak firepower. Luka would actually feel the heat of the obligation to win instead of getting media support due to "lack of teammates". Do I think we have enough to win here? Honestly? No.
I tried to think about other scenarios, but it is way too difficult to evaluate 10 in a vacuum. Feels like too much to trade for Capela, too little to trade for Myles Turner. Guys like Claxton are way overrated and THJ and Bertans, although together combine for a max-level contract, does not warrant the player worthy of one (unless we are receiving Ben Simmons and 21 and 22 without giving up 10, but that's a different deal). Do not think Ayton will be for sale under Vogel, I believe Vogel will make Ayton a focal point of their offense. Too much for Bojan, too little for Keldon Johnson and a laughable joke for Jaylen Brown.
I'm curious to see folks rationale here, because as one (tired) person, I'm sure I missed more than a few scenarios here.

One day he made a small bundle of tobacco and tied it around the hawk's neck. The hawk flew off and returned after a while but without the tobacco bundle. The boy tied another bundle around its neck and the bird flew off, returning again without the bundle. This happened again and again. The hawk grew to full size, and again the boy again tied a bundle of tobacco around its neck. He thanked the hawk for staying with him so long but explained that now that the bird was fully grown it could do whatever it wished. The hawk flew away and never returned. Some time later, the orphan boy and his friend went out to collect dogwood to make pointed arrows. They were searching through some thick brush and accidentally got separated as a storm was coming up. The bad thunder spirits picked up the orphan boy and carried him to their home. His friend looked and looked for him, but finally gave up and went home. Day after day, the friend returned to the same spot to look for the orphan boy, whom he missed very much. 2023.06.07 00:06 smokejumperbro Latest Update: legislation, pay, what is going to happen?
Where are we at? A quick update.
I’ve been busy with training season and haven’t updated much and thought I’d drop some info now.
Although it has been well documented that the current pay supplement (funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law) will run out by September 30th, I wouldn’t be too concerned right now, as there are several proposals to increase our pay when the BIL funds run dry.
A lot of people were concerned about the Debt Ceiling negotiations and how that will impact our future, and I’m happy to report that our pay increase was not cut in those negotiations. This puts us in a very strong, bipartisan position to get a pay increase come FY’24. Because they could not negotiate over spending that had already occurred, the debt ceiling negotiations were focused on getting back some unspent COVID relief money, and also cutting some proposed spending in the Biden proposed FY’24 budget. I’m happy to say that the USDA/DOI Wildfire Salaries and Expenses proposed increase was not cut, and that is the best signal that both parties have agreed to fund higher salaries for federal wildland firefighters.
So we can see the pot of gold, but we don’t yet know the path we will take to get there.
What paths are proposed and are any still under construction?
Many of us know about the proposed legislation put out be the Biden Administration (USFS/DOI). You can read all about it here: https://www.grassrootswildlandfirefighters.com/budget-proposal
Another path is Tim’s Act. It has been reworked and reintroduced in the house and now introduced in the senate. Read more about it here. The pay is largely similar to the Admin Proposal, but adds temp buyback, hazard pay reforms and more.
There may be even more options proposed between now and the “fiscal cliff” so stay tuned and buckle up. Some of these proposals are not just shakeups, but total reworking of the way we conduct business.
I believe there will be more details coming soon enough. Grassroots will be sending a few people to DC and I think NFFE will be sending some to DC as well in the coming weeks.
Hearing season has been well underway and this year is quite a bit different than last year. Kudos to Jaelith Hall-Rivera and the other land management folks testifying because it is night and day from last year.
Grassroots VP Riva Duncan got in on the testimony game, sharing her expertise with the House Natural Resources Committee. They are considering a lot of stuff and there will be a lot of negotiations there as pay for firefighters is tied to passing land management reform bills most likely.
There is a lot more stuff to update, but that is the most important stuff. Lots of people out there are claiming to know more than they do, I keep hearing that “my FMO is guaranteeing that Tim’s Act will pass” kind of stuff. Nobody knows which bill is most likely to pass, and there are more to be introduced.
Let’s all stay positive throughout this process, and understand that we don’t have the option to be choosy with which senator wants to introduce legislation to fix our pay issues. Where are we at? A quick update.
I’ve been busy with training season and haven’t updated much and thought I’d drop some info now.
Although it has been well documented that the current pay supplement (funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law) will run out by September 30th, I wouldn’t be too concerned right now, as there are several proposals to increase our pay when the BIL funds run dry.
A lot of people were concerned about the Debt Ceiling negotiations and how that will impact our future, and I’m happy to report that our pay increase was not cut in those negotiations. This puts us in a very strong, bipartisan position to get a pay increase come FY’24. Because they could not negotiate over spending that had already occurred, the debt ceiling negotiations were focused on getting back some unspent COVID relief money, and also cutting some proposed spending in the Biden proposed FY’24 budget. I’m happy to say that the USDA/DOI Wildfire Salaries and Expenses proposed increase was not cut, and that is the best signal that both parties have agreed to fund higher salaries for federal wildland firefighters.
So we can see the pot of gold, but we don’t yet know the path we will take to get there.
What paths are proposed and are any still under construction?
Many of us know about the proposed legislation put out be the Biden Administration (USFS/DOI). You can read all about it here: https://www.grassrootswildlandfirefighters.com/budget-proposal
Another path is Tim’s Act. It has been reworked and reintroduced in the house and now introduced in the senate. Read more about it here. The pay is largely similar to the Admin Proposal, but adds temp buyback, hazard pay reforms and more.
There may be even more options proposed between now and the “fiscal cliff” so stay tuned and buckle up. Some of these proposals are not just shakeups, but total reworking of the way we conduct business.
I believe there will be more details coming soon enough. Grassroots will be sending a few people to DC and I think NFFE will be sending some to DC as well in the coming weeks.
Hearing season has been well underway and this year is quite a bit different than last year. Kudos to Jaelith Hall-Rivera and the other land management folks testifying because it is night and day from last year.
Grassroots VP Riva Duncan got in on the testimony game, sharing her expertise with the House Natural Resources Committee. They are considering a lot of stuff and there will be a lot of negotiations there as pay for firefighters is tied to passing land management reform bills most likely.
There is a lot more stuff to update, but that is the most important stuff. Lots of people out there are claiming to know more than they do, I keep hearing that “my FMO is guaranteeing that Tim’s Act will pass” kind of stuff. Nobody knows which bill is most likely to pass, and there are more to be introduced.
Let’s all stay positive throughout this process, and understand that we don’t have the option to be choosy with which senator wants to introduce legislation to fix our pay issues. Notes:
1) I don't think we would need the JR Pass for this trip. 2) The reason why we are spending so many days in Tokyo is because we feel we didn't get enough time in Tokyo last time (we got ~ 5 days including both Disneys). We didn't get to explore as much as we wanted to. 3) I've only had a brief look of what activities we can do in Okinawa, hence it's pretty empty at the moment. Anything we find, we can add to our itinerary later. 4) Similarly, we haven't planned much for Tokyo because we want to be more spontaneous with our plans there, apart from places like Disney, Pokemon Cafe, etc. We also have a friend living there whom we plan to meet, so we aren't worried about not having set plans (we had more fun that way!). 5) Since there are soooo many travel passes out there, are the passes I've chosen (Nikko WH & Hakone/Kamakura) good enough? We still have our Pasmo cards which we can use in the cities. 6) I've tried my best to plan the different places according to average cherry blossom forecasts, knowing that the forecast can vary every year (although I know Okinawa gets sakura very early, so I don't mind missing it there as long as we get to see it on the main land). 7) We are planning to go to the theme parks (both Disneys & USJ) on weekdays, hopefully for less crowds (considering it would be peak tourist season). 8) Due to the length of our trip (and hence our budget), I doubt we will be able to stay at a hotel/ryokan with a private onsen with Mt Fuji view (that has been my dream, but it's like $600-1000 AUD per night :( ). Are there any suggestions for hotel/ryokan with private onsen alternatives, even in other places such as Hakone? We are trying to spend ~ $100 AUD per night, but I understand that such places would be far more expensive (we'll see if we can spend a little extra, otherwise leave my dream for a future trip!) 9) We were originally planning to go to Sapporo during the Okinawa dates, as I really want to go to Shiroi Koibito Park. But, it seems like it would make more sense to go to Sapporo another time, such as during the snow festival, and even in March I'd have to pack extra warm (and possibly heavy) clothes. Hence, we decided to swap Sapporo with Okinawa, since it's said to be more "tropical".Thank you (especially if you read this far!)

I asked this awhile ago but I was wondering if there is actually a solid release date or expected month for the XS enhanced version to release, because all I can find even now is an article from 2 months ago stating it’s expected “later in 2023” which doesn’t give me much to go off of. Now the current version is on sale on Xbox for $6.59 USD and I am itching to play it again! Especially since I already have all the dlc from when I had it on XBONE on disc!
My main issue is that I have heard the game is pretty broken on current gen, especially walking anywhere in Goodneighbor or downtown Boston… and I don’t expect Bethesda to be the kind of developer to fix that if there is in fact a launch coming up for an enhanced version.

If you're so inspired by the EU that you wanna copy it at every single damn turn, why not try a faithful adaptation for once? Or continuing it? Ahsoka was never even in those damn novels, so people who go into this thinking it's going to be just like the EU and that Filoni is "saving" Star Wars or the EU are truly ignorant beyond belief. Ladies and gentlemen, sheen synergy is finally fucking dead. Ive been on the zeri emotional train since her release and I've seen how defining sheen was on her and how awful was riots management. Allow me to guide you thought the costs we had to suffer to keep this (even though since day one of bruiser build we complained that we wanted riot to take out since we KNEW how harsh the balancing would be). Before you think anything else, yes this ends up on a rant but it still provides what i consider a decent insight on Zeri's story.
Just as a reminder zeri was released as a solid on hit champion with low crit scalings, ult lighting chain was on hit, Q could multi proc on hit effects by landing bullets from the same Q on different targets and we have the AS to AD conversion since on hit builds would overfeed us AS.
That was Sheen's first prey, after removing the ult on-hit down to just a normal effect they made so Q would only be able to land on hits once. This wasn't an easy technique either, easy to pull on minions but that's about it, riot pulled the trigger regardless. Death of the original concept for zeri as an on hit champ.
After that we have the stats gutter, where riot fucked up with our base AD on every single patch and try to buff Q scalings in compensation every now and again even though were back to almost square 1 on that second part cause it ofc got nerfed. This was a point where we would take ingenious hunter to make sheen from basically a 3 hit passive into a 2 hit. Death of the bruiser build because our damage overrelied on sheen. By the way, at this stage zeri was awful with crit since she had no scalings.
Sheen stripped zeri of whatever was left of her original identity with on hits and her alternative identity with trinity. Riot then started shoving critical hits (not even crit scalings cause that is too good of an idea for riot) making Zeri's damage insanely clunky, luck based and inconsistent. The champion with a line talking about how consistent they are btw. This was enforcing the crit builds, every crit item was terrible on zeri but it was our only option to deal any damage.
During this time zeri STILL continued to get base AD nerfs up until Zeri's death patches between worlds and December where riot spoke about how they didn't think removing sheen was all that important because zeri's damage no longer relied on it. Right on the time where zeri dealt negative damage and I could have better results with a full tank build than a full crit.
After the midscope nothing sheen related really happened, riot finally seemed to be content but introduce 13.10, the resurgence of on-hit (would have been nice for release zeri) and the absolute death of crit damage cause IE didn't get any changes from legendary to mythic and claimed its throne as the biggest inconsistent statstick in game. On the side they just so happened to buff trinity to make the item's damage not rely on being a solid sheen user so to surprise of nobody zeri went back to the bruiser build.
Which brings us to the current times where apparently they finally took the decision to take the stupid interaction out but at the cost of our ENTIRE passive. Zeri's identity as an anti-shields and enchanter friendly dead out of nowhere.
Sheen interaction caused on its own the death of our damage (base AD nerfs into tons of damage scalings), speed (couldn't buff zeri's speed cause bruiser would become obnoxious), character personality (enforced crit, no infinite speed) and champion synergy/matchups (can't take advantage of enemy shields like naut W, don't benefit extra from ally shields).
Now its gone and we're getting nothing of it back. I called it months ago, we're samira 2.0, kalista 5.0, ADC ryze. Except riot gave RoA back to ryze so he's fine and gave kalista her regular damage on AA so they're trying to help her.
Fuck you riot from the deepest of my heart for taking every wrong turn you could with the one champ who reavivated my enjoyment of the ADC role and the game in general. For breaking her legs when an ADC finally gave assasins a reason to play prediction games and not simply dump cooldowns on ADCs for free gold. For playing with our time and emotions just cause you couldn't decide on what she should be until you ran out of things to take from her so she'd end barely recognizable from what she once initially was.
Sadly this emotions which I believe it's shared by at least the OG zeri nerfs will probably reach riot but just be shrugged off like it always has been

Hi! I and my family will be visiting WDW for the first time next month to celebrate my mum beating cancer :) None of us have ever been to a Disney park (we're UK based and are more the Alton Towers sort've crowd), so I've been endlessly researching and planning for months to try make our week go as smoothly as possible. So, I thought I'd post the plan outline here to get everyone's thoughts!
Context info: it'll be me (F27, coaster enthusiast), my brother (M18, terrified of most rides), and my parents, both of whom enjoy a good thrill ride. We're not really interested in the whole character meet and greet situation, and as we're only doing 4 park days, we know there's no 'getting everything in' - this is a first visit, we just want to have a good time, do the highlights, and try not to perish in the Florida heat and humidity!
Arrive Saturday 8th around 3pm Florida time - staying at the Swan. Parents figure they'll go chill by the pool, I'll likely join them but I've got us EPCOT park passes in case we want to wander down in the late afternoon/evening for a nose
Sunday 9th - Magic Kingdom, our first full park day! We have a dining reservation for Be Our Guest in the evening, and are planning to hit classics like Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, etc, while also hoping we get a virtual queue for Tron.
Monday 10th - EPCOT. Dinner reservation is for the San Angel Inn (we want a sit down dinner at least once per full park day, expensive yes, but it's a must for my parents). I'm hoping to do Cosmic Rewind, maybe ratatouille and frozen, and definitely living with the land!
Tuesday 11th - we're going to try out the Disney water park (the open one) this day. My brother loves a water slide so hopefully he won't be too traumatised by any of the rides this day. I've booked us a dining reservation for 7.30 on the paddlefish 🐟🐠🐡
Wednesday 12th - we're hoping to do Universal Islands of Adventure here, I was going to grab tickets online but 1-day tickets seem confusingly hard to come by? We'll probably just grab on gate. (Velocicoaster here I come 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️)
Thursday 13th - Hollywood Studios and Tower of Terror I AM COMING FOR YOU. I have bought the t-shirt in advance. But yes, thrill rides here and I've booked Oga's Cantina for drinks at 3.35pm and dinner at the Hollywood Brown Derby at 6.40. We need to, somehow, get on Rise, ideally without a 2 hour wait. My stepfather is a huge star wars fan and I myself would love to experience the world's best dark ride (supposedly)
Friday 14th - Animal Kingdom. I'm aware this park isn't super ride heavy because its also half zoo, so aside from all the Avatar stuff we're aiming to do Expedition Everest, dine at a restaurant I've temporarily forgotten the name of but doesn't require reservations (Nomad Lounge is it? DFB guide talks about it a lot), and maybe hop over to EPCOT or MK in the evening if we're done with AK to see the fireworks before we leave (as this will be our final Disney day.
On Saturday 15th we'll be flying out to Miami for a week relaxing on South Beach 🏖

Im active military and recently moved to Kodiak on military orders but I’m in that iffy legal age range of 18-21, where I simultaneously am an adult but also not. I know I cannot buy a handgun from a dealer under 21, but in Alaska, I can legally purchase a handgun from a private seller.
My main intent for doing so is bear defense but if I can even just add a .22 to my lackluster pistol collection I’d be happy with that as well.
Seems to be a decent following on gunsalaska for private sellers, but never in Kodiak. Same with alaskaslists. Unfortunately, making it up to Anchorage for a sale is not in the cards right now.
Just to be clear, I AM NOT looking to purchase a firearm from anybody through Reddit, I just want advice or information.

First Reddit post so sorry if this is different than most, but trying to gain some clarity on what happened.
I bought a vintage Arsenal jersey from a store based in England who seemed reputable to me. As soon as I made the purchase, the seller sent tracking info that did not register with UPS. After 10 days, they provided new tracking info, but the package was coming from Hong Kong. Now, this didn’t fully worry me, but when I went back to the store, the seller closed their shop and I can’t even view the item details (which states the return policy I believe). It was set to arrive today, but tracking says it’s still in Hong Kong as of 2 weeks ago. Also want to mention that they had 299 sales with 23 reviews and a 4.9 average.
I’m pretty sure I got scammed but is there any way to refute this and or get my money back? Figured this post would also serve as a reminder to other Redditors to be careful when making purchases like this.
