Folks, yet again we're here because a company is doing something that will massively fuck over all of us and eventually themselves. We have been here with Devotion with CDPR and we have been her for a myriad other choices that highlight that we as users and consumers don't matter.
TL;DR With the promotional idealistic text over, here's the simple rundown of what is happening:
Per July 1, Reddit is functionally, though not officially, killing off all third party applications that access Reddit via the API, by charging for API access. The charge isn't a big deal, of course you should charge for someone using your database, but the pricing is....well, absurd. $1.7 million a month just for Apollo to run their app is absurd (by comparison, for the same traffic, even IMGUR and Google/Microsoft would charge less than $10k a month).
Considering that most third party apps don't actually earn that much, this change is an effective kill for all of them. Which is what Reddit wants so we'll use the shitshow that is the official app (containing on average 70% less information per page due to ads and general design).

I am currently the sole active mod on this subreddit. I use a third party app to moderate and maintain the subreddit most of my time.
Since from the 1st of July they are closing down that access and that app, I am not going to commit through the immense effort of constantly moderating only from desktop or to using the idiotic official app. It's not worth it and I don't get paid enough for this shit.
If anyone wants to stand up and moderate starting from the 1st of July, using the honestly braindead official tooling they have now, you're welcome to send us a modmail and I'll try and process your request in time for the change. For the sake of the subreddit, if you already manage a lot of other subreddits, I personally won't even consider your application, but disso may.

I'd of course be willing to continue moderating best I can if the access to all third party apps was kept reasonable beyond the 1st of July, so paid, but not the bullshit amounts that it is now. He went on a trip with his dad and brother, which made me anxious as we live in a remote area which is hard to access by public transport. This meant me staying st other people’s place with our dog. He didn’t really text me back on the trip, than i started to express it hurts and worries me. We fought about it , but he was very passive, not really texting back. I have an 8 month old Cairn Terrier that I've had since he was 8 weeks old. From essentially day one, I've been getting him use to nail trims/grinding and being handled in general. Messing with his feet/ears/mouth, giving him treats every time I bring out the clippers and/or grinder, praising calmness, ect. He was starting to get used to his weekly nail trims and I was super proud of him! I also wanted him to get use to other people handling him so I've taken him to groomers to just bathe him and do his nails. I always told them "We're working on getting him used to being handled. If you notice any behavior thats not just related to him being a young puppy, please let me know so i can work on it." The first two times, the groomer said he did great, he's just a wiggly puppy. The third time, the place I normally take him was booked so I took him to another groomer with good reviews. Gave them the same speech and they got to work. When I came to pick him up, I was shocked to hear that my puppy snapped at the girl the entire time she was bathing him, peed all her and himself, and snapped at her again while drying. She wasn't even comfortable attempting his nails. Horrified, I apologized and said that I've never gotten that report before and I absolutely will continue to work on it.
Now, if I bring out the nail clippers and attempt to do them, he growls and snaps. I am so disheartened.
My question is, how do I go forward getting him used to nail trims again? I know I essentially have to start from scratch but now I don't have to just deal with a wiggly puppy, but an AGGRESSIVE wiggly puppy. I feel so guilty and I know he's just terrified but it breaks my heart to see my normally sweet and goofy guy turn into a monster so fast.

Hi everyone,
These are picture of some modifications I made to the nose of the X-Wing. Most of the surfaces were tiled and I added a slope along the top of the side panels to close the gaps. I tried to keep the colour scheme and shape intact. The internal structure and panel attachment points stayed the same - still just those two clips towards the rear. The transparent antenna things were pushed back half a stud so the nose tip can be pushed in that last mm whatever.
The angles worked out perfectly for the top edge of side panels to stay parallel throughout the length of the nose. That shaped very nicely into a hexagon. Just need to make a bit of room inside, the doubled-up Technic beam structure was a bit overkill so removing the upper layer didn't compromise sturdiness. The tip was also slimmed down a bit. I used a bunch of 1x2 - 1x4 brackets as the structure for the top tile structure to keep it thin.
While I was at it, I also tried to angle the canopy up slightly like in the reference models but if I'm being honest, I'm not sure it looks better the way it's shaped. Any more angle and things just stop looking right. It also would've been nice to slim the nose width by 1 stud but I couldn't find a way to make it look right with this canopy.
The wing mechanism to fix the gap/droop was its own project, the details can be found in my previous post. That mod also brings the engines a bit closer to the fuselage.
I think the next step is to scale the whole model to fit the engines, so that means adding 7~8 studs to the wingspan and likewise to the length... at this point we'd just be rebuilding the whole thing...
Also would love to see how the nose tip can be done better!

I thought I'd do a series titled "social justice with Thomas Aquinas". My reasons being are a following. St Thomas Aquinas is one of the most important thinkers and saints in the Christian tradition. He's also one of the most important intellectuals in history, irrespective of whether one is a Christian or not. In relation to this topic one of the things that is often times unrealised is the important influence St Thomas Aquinas and may in the Christian tradition had on the development of our understandings of human rights and social justice. When the Spanish Conquistadors for instance came to the new world and enslaved and exploited the indigenous peoples of Central and South America, Dominican monks from the School of Salamanca influenced by Aquinas's philosophy organised the first protest movement of modern history. This helped give birth to modern notions of human rights. Similarly, in the 19th century Jesuit priests such as Luigi Taparelli coined the phrase "social justice", influenced by Aquinas's understanding of distributive justice. So his influence is fairly immense in this area. So here are his thoughts on Equity:
Aquinas and Equity:
"Legislators in framing laws attend to what commonly happens: although if the law be applied to certain cases it will frustrate the equality of justice and be injurious to the common good, which the law has in view. Thus the law requires deposits to be restored, because n the majority of cases this is just. Yet, it happens sometimes to be injurious-for instance if a madman were to put his sword in deposit, and demand its delivery while in a state of madness, or if a man were to seek the return of his deposit in order to fight against his country. In these and like cases it is bad to follow the law, and it is good to set aside the letter of the law and to follow the dictates of justice and the common good. This is the object of epikeia, which we call equity. Therefore it is evidence that equity is a virtue"(Summa Theologica, Q 120, Art 1)

Analysis:
The first thing we see here is that Aquinas sees equity as a virtue. And it is a virtue precisely because it is a part of the quest to seek both justice and the common good. That in turn is what social justice means in the original sense of the word. Secondly we see Aquinas state that sometimes equity includes legal justice, and sometimes it transcends it. He states clearly that if there are times when the law ought not to be followed. He articulates this times in other places in his writing when that positive law(human law) violates the dictates of natural law, which sets the foundation of natural justice. In that context, if someone is following a law when that law ought not to be followed, that is sinful. To pursue equity sometimes means disobeying the law for the higher principles of justice and the common good in society. The Reverend Dr Martin Luther King Jr, in his Letter from the Birmingham Jail during the Civil Rights era, saw this in his fight against segregation and actually quotes Aquinas in his justification for his acts of civil disobedience. Lastly Aquinas sees justice as being predicated on equity. He uses the analogy of animals as a general category and ox and horses as specific categories. If a farmer as ox and horses, those ox and horses are the predicate for there being animals n the barn. Similarly equity is one of the things that justice is predicated on and according to Aquinas it has priority to legal justice since legal justice itself has to be ordered to equity for it to be just. This in turn is a Biblical view of reality since in the Bible one of the goals of the Law itself is equity. Hence it commands "True justice must be given to foreigners living among you and to orphans, and you must never accept a widow's garment as security for her debt. Always remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the Lord your God redeemed you from your slavery. That is why I have given you this command"(Deuteronomy 24:17-18). The prophets in turn saw this commands as a sacred injunction to maintain an equitable society, hence why they state "Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the right widows"(Isaiah 1:17)

Im just curious what you people think what would be the best case scenario for IOTA? We by now have some idea where all of this is going. I am of the opinion that we are kind of on a edge of something. I cannot point finger at it yet ,but something is cooking. Can I prove it? No. Is it possible that I am completely wrong? Yes.
You see, the fact to the matter is that old naratives of crypto are in a retreat. There are some pockets of change that are pointing to the fact that the old narative is still fighting and triing to gain ground. For example El salvador is starting to love bitcoin and the adoption is increasing there(in case you are not familiar they made bitcoin its legal tender). It is completely possible that high inflation countries will follow same path of adoption if they see success from El Salvador. That would mean that the crypto will be starting to replace old fiat currencies in the future. From the logical standpoint one could argue that the cryptocurrencies in general are the superior, more atuned form of representing value. Why? Becouse of the concept of decentralization, digital nature , deflation, and invulnerability to all known attacks. And the very important fact, they cannot be medled with its supply, flooded with liquidity from central authorities and that does mean alot. If they were used instead of FIAT ones we would never made such a mess with all this inflation. The world would go from high spending to high saving. People would still buy stuff they need and by default start getting richer instead of poorer by the passage of time. Wouldnt that make a better world then the current one which operates under the false premise of infinite growth but with finite resources? In a perfect world, what would be the currency that fits the standards of mass adoption? Well, It would have to be completly green, with no unnecesary spending of energy. It would have a finite supply, one that in reality reflects the finite resources we have as a species. It would be decentralised, which means no meddling by any authority, It would be completly safe in its protocol, and ligtning fast and scalable. Now I think IOTA checks so many boxes that it is impossible to ignore for anyone who is familiar with it. Whether the world is recognising that fact at this point is irrelevant. But it is a fact that cryptocurrencies ARE superior form of value transfer and IOTA IS superior to all the current top dogs of this space. Even with all the flaws it currently has. Lets compare Doge with IOTA. In what insane world does the value od Doge deserves the 20x of value compared to IOTA? A pump and dump joke that has 0 development and absolutly 0 value except occasional pump from Elon with his insane proposition of "strangest thing usually wins" out of the ass argument which makes 0 sense. The thing that usually wins is the one that is Best built to serve and do what it was designed to do. Now how does IOTA compare to BTC, the coin that has 1000x its value? The transactions cost for BTC can vary between 2$ and a fu*in 60$ per transaction. Now imagine scaling this to 100X or 1000X. What would be cost then? 1000$? 2000$? How in the fu*k is this superior to IOTA which has 0 transaction costs? Is BTC green? No it is far from it. It spends so much energy that entire countries can be powered instead. it is consuming 127 terawatt-hours (TWh) a year . For example, Croatia, country in which Im in , consumes 17 terawatt-hours (TWh) a year. A country with 4 million people. How is this superior to IOTA, a coin that wastes no energy? Or lets talk about bottlenecks of BTC transactions. When the networks is not clogged, the transaction times usually lasts dozens of minutes, but when its clogged, the transactions times can be hours. IOTA by comparison is faster by each transaction . You see what im getting at? Even with all flaws of current state of IOTA(and they will improve) I just cant find a valid reason why we should be this low and top dogs where they are. I see no valid reason why we should lose ground in crypto space except for idiotic moon boys and speculators who are currently dominating the market. If the market starts moving in the direction of fair value(and it is supposed and designed to be doing that) then the IOTA WILL start gaining ground. Ajax
I am building an application with a ReactJS front end that connects to an Express API server. Calls to the API are made using Ajax.
In one of my views, a table loads with "Export" links on each row. The Export links lead to a React route that calls an API endpoint which provides a CSV file to download.
If I hit the API endpoint directly with a valid request (outside the React app), a file download is initiated in my browser. Perfect! However, following the Export link from the React page attempts to load the view where the call to the API occurs. The table disappears from the view and is replaced by the file contents (on purpose to prove I have the data) but no file is downloaded.
Can I force a download of the contents of the response object as a file?Could this take place in the ajax success callback?I made an attempt with javascript but I'm struggling with the React virtual DOM...I assume this must be pretty straight forward but I'm stumped.

I own a flat in London, share of freehold.With this arrangement, I am technically a leaseholder of my flat to a company who owns the building. I am then also an equal co-owner of the company with the other freeholders. So, I am still subject to a lease.

I've been doing dogsitting and found it helpful for my mental health. I've been recommended by my therapist to get a live-in dog to support my emotional wellbeing. I'm unclear if my lease supports this, this is what it says:
“Not to keep or permit to be kept any bird dog or other animal in or upon the demised premises which may cause damage nuisance or annoyance to the Lessees or occupiers of any other flats on the said Estate or to which an objection shall be notified by the Company”
It sounds like perhaps dogs (or any pets) are not allowed, though I know different freeholders have different interpretations of this statement. But is it really that vague, or does it have a clear meaning?
In general, the lease is quite long and old, and many of the specific rules are not adhered-to by neighbours. For example, there's a point about not having flower boxes on balconies which several people don't adhere to.
There are a few other freeholders who regularly bring dogs into the building for dogsitting, including one neighbour who regularly has a dog staying with them for weeks at a time.
We do have one freeholder who in particular hates dogs and has taken issue to dogs being on the property in the past.
Just wondering what my options are in terms of getting a dog? Both how to interpret the lease, and also the relevant UK laws. As an aside, I did some reading online and looks like there are increasing protections for renters to own pets, wondering if that might influence my situation.

I've seen a lot of promos going around that i would like to have, but as a person who lives in a place where no Expos are going on and I'm not able to get there any time soon. Is there a possibility to just order them anywhere?

I have a wonderful partner and stable relationship. I trust him completely, enjoy our time together, etc. He always conducts himself appropriately around me and spends quality time with me.
And then there's his FWB...
It's a tricky situation because their timeline, in short is that they met on Tinder, went on dates/had sex, she decided to pursue someone else (her now husband), my boyfriend and her became close friends, this woman opened her marriage and began having sex with my boyfriend for many years, and then she closed the relationship when she wanted to get pregnant. They had not been together for about 7 months before I started dating him.
My boyfriend is loyal and said feelings were never involved, and I believe him. But because of this circumstance, I have a really really hard time being around her because it's clear that she has a deep affection for him. There's technically nothing wrong, but it feels overbearing to me, like when she made him a custom mug, feels comfortable enough to sleep over at his place (it's fair: she's also friends with his roommate), and is so comfortable with him.
I'm aware that this makes him a really good guy: he has platonic relationships with a caring woman. She also must have a strong bond with her husband, who is similarly around.
Unfortunately, I hate their whole dynamic. I hate that she's so close and sweet with him. I hate that they never established boundaries and nothing actually changed when she closed the relationship... they just stopped having sex. Because there IS an intimacy here and because it has nothing to do with monogamy or being in a relationship, I feel as though you can't delineate before and after his involvement with them. It was "just sex", but to me, it seems so much more obvious than that.
I've been to therapy and multiple therapists said that I'm not crazy and I should figure out my boundaries and talk to him about being less close with her. While we've developed some boundaries, like I don't want him getting drunk around her, and he hasn't except when I'm around, I think this is actually about me processing this in a healthy way. How do you accept that your boyfriend has a close friendship with a woman in he used have sexual relations with when he doesn't do anything wrong, just her? B
