I need help and I’m am really bad at asking for it.
5 years ago my partner, of then 9 years, and I dropped everything and moved to a new state w essentially nothing. We had been living w my parents for 2 years after I graduated college and we were living rent-free. I got my first ever credit card while living w my parents and things were fine.
The first year in our new place is when my debt started growing. By then I had 4 cards, but really only used 2. Having a rent payment on top of getting everything we needed to settle in started my downfall. A few years later and a new apartment, I was starting to feel the pressure. We moved from my parents home in the countryside to a bustling city that begged us to go out and enjoy the town.
Cut to 4/17/23, my mother was hospitalized for complications w her relatively recent cholangiocarcinoma diagnosed. I drove back to stay w my parents and was there and out of work for 2 weeks. I spent so much on gas going back and forth to the hospital every day as well as feeding myself and looking after my dad. My mom passed away 4/27/23.
I struggle w clinical depression, ADHD, and generalized anxiety disorder. My mother’s death broke me. About 3 weeks later, my partner broke up with me—I was blindsided. We are on good terms and plan to live together since we have a 2 bedroom apartment and we’ve both been a huge part of each other’s lives for so long. It ended up being amicable.
I often relied on my mom for financial security, but I hated it. With everything that has happened in the past 6 weeks I feel alone and I NEED to get my life back on track.
I currently have ~$26k in credit card debt. I have never missed a monthly payment, but I fear that I am going to get to a point where I can’t scrape by. I already live paycheck to paycheck. I work full time and have been at my workplace for 5 years and absolutely love it. My rent portion is $900/month and I’m currently putting $860/month to cards. After car insurance, a small personal loan for school, and normal groceries, I am left with nothing—which I know is not the end of the world, but I also want to have at least a little bit of a life and to be able to put money into savings towards a goal. Any goal.
I spent 2 hours on the phone w a debt settlement service trying to explore my options, but it felt very predatory toward the end.
I’m sorry that this is not organized well, I’ve been a little scattered lately and my body has been in fight or flight mode for 6 weeks.

I’m currently NYPD, and I’m lining things up on this job in case I stick around… but the amount of toxicity in this work environment is finally starting to get to me.. but I don’t feel I would be on patrol for much longer, then the quality of life gets slightly better….
Is working for CBP as toxic as some major city police departments ? I currently have 0 work life balance. Doing about 700-800 hours of OT a year. I’d say 80% is all forced OT, and I don’t even make any good money for it. I’m never home and I hate it. And don’t even get me started on dealing with each other and some supervisors…. But like I said, I have a ticket to get off patrol and get into the special teams right now if I decide to stay where the QOL is 10x better
CBP just sounds too good to be true, and there’s so many salty people online, and I really don’t know what the hell they complain about. I’m hearing you almost never get forced for OT on you RDO at jfk and I’m sitting here losing 1-2 RDO every week

Ever since I (22F) was young, my parents have been toxic. They are both alcoholics, fight constantly, and are abusive to each other and my brother (19M) and I. My mom specifically emotionally abused me from a young age. She would manipulate me and guilt trip me constantly, and I had always been forced between my parents fights. I was often told they couldn’t get a divorce because of me. My mom cheated on my dad last year and told me first before anyone else and made me keep it a secret. It was awful and caused me PTSD which I’m going to therapy for. Thankfully I moved away to school when I was 17, and since last year I’ve been living with my boyfriend (23M) of 7 years when I’m not at school. It’s helped me a lot to be physically separated from my parents. I’ve set a lot of boundaries with them and told them im very hurt with how my childhood was (feeling neglected, used, emotionally responsible, etc). While I’m happy to be out, my brother is stuck. He just finished college and is trying to work and save money to move out. He stays away from my parents as much as possible, but is still financially dependent on them. He’s become greatly affected by their problems and has opened up to me recently about how he has suffered with alcohol addiction. He says he tries to stop but my parents peer pressure him to drink and smoke more. My mom is starting to emotionally abuse him the way she always did to me. He’s shown me texts from her where she bombards him with useless info and makes guilt tripping comments. I try to spend as much time with my brother as possible. Me and my bf have him for dinner often and told him he’s always welcome to sleep here. His gf (18F) is also very sweet and supportive of him and I can tell she wants the best for him.
Any wise words from someone who’s been through this? I’m continuing therapy every two weeks and trying to break away from feeling emotionally responsible for my parents. But I’m very protective of my brother and want to help him and keep him safe. I’m just struggling a lot.

Got a new a role as a commercial/industrial HVACR maintenance tech. I have about 2 years experience as a commercial sheetmetal and equipment installer but not much servicing and maintaining. Most my service knowledge is from my time as a residential service tech and trade school . I passed their 65 question skill test my general knowledge and refrigeration knowledge is about 80 percent it’s just my electrical knowledge that’s lacking they said. But they seemed excited about bringing me on board and even offered more than I was asking for. I’m competent but just a lil nervous and want to know what I should expect starting out and tips to do my job well.

Slot 1) Currently using Rogue HWM cycling between point blank shot and duelist advance (to return to slot 1).
Slot 2) Hellion uses Wicked Hack off the HWM Combo from Point Blank Shot.
Slot 3) Flag using either punish or utility (I don't think I'm using this one correctly)

I’ve been best friends with a girl for over 13 years. We meet when we were 19 and now we’re in our early thirties. Let’s call this friend Emily. The first two years of our friendship started off well until the copying and weirdness began. I was best friends with this one girl named Amy. Amy and I hung out everyday, spoke every day. Amy and I were part of a friend group that included two boys. We did everything together. From time to time we would invite Emily and others into the group but not often. Fast forward one year, I began hanging out with this other girl named Erica. I started to bring Emily around and soon enough Erica stopped speaking me to me and became closer Friends with Emily. At this point I’m thinking to myself this feels weird…but I ultimately chalk it up to growing pains and people changing and growing apart. I noticed that if I invited Emily to a family event, she would then sent a fb or IG invite to my friends and cousins even after one meet up and even though they didn’t talk or hang out. Emily always spoke about never wanting to have kids or be married. That it wasn’t her thing. Fast forward to 5 years later and my 5 year boyfriend and I got engaged. Less than one month later she tells me she got married to her 5 month boyfriend. She stated she suggested they marry so they went to city hall and eloped. I then started working in the HR field and she suddenly wanted to work in HR too. I got my nose pierced and sure enough she got her nose pierced too. Fast forward a few more years, I start my own business in a very unique market. And here comes Emily and announces that she wants to do the same thing. I start a small non-profit and sure enough emily announced that she wants to start one too. Now this is where I think it gets more serious. My mom was diagnosed with cancer, I had a hard time with this as you can imagine. As my mom and I work through her chemo Emily suddenly tells the group that she suspects her mom is sick and is hiding it from her. She tells us stories of her mom or dad being sick on how she’s always worried. My mom passed away shortly after. Emily is then constantly crying because she’s scared of losing her parents. While I’m in disbelief someone is trying to appropriate my grief. After my mom passed I decided I wanted to focus on starting a family and begin trying to get pregnant. Sure enough here comes Emily fresh from a divorce after just dating a guy for 6 month announces that she too wants to try and get pregnant and focus on family. Am I the crazy one ?

Hello everyone,today I had an interesting discussion with a friend of mine about which Pokémon generation we liked the least. I should mention that my friend and I are 25 and 23 years old respectively, and we have played all the Pokémon generations up to the fourth one. Unfortunately, I had to stop after the fourth generation due to an unfortunate incident where my Nintendo DS Lite fell to the floor and broke. After the fourth generation, I decided not to invest any more money in buying a new DS and playing Pokémon games beyond Platinum. However, my friend continued to play all the titles up to the present day, while I have been following the various video games as a spectator rather than a player.
So today we were discussing which generation we liked the least, and we have very different opinions on which one is the worst overall. Personally, I believe that the fourth generation (Pokémon Platinum) marked a turning point for me in terms of the design choices for Pokémon. I don't like many of the Pokémon from the fourth generation, but there are others that I adore. On the other hand, the fifth generation is the one that definitively marked a change in design. Many Pokémon, from an aesthetic point of view, don't appeal to me, and I also find that the new generations drastically alter a Pokémon after evolution, which I find unsuitable. In fact, I believe that an evolution should be a gradual process rather than a complete transformation. While in the earlier generations I could accept that Magikarp evolves into Gyarados as an exception that confirms the rule, I increasingly struggle to appreciate things like Yamask evolving into Cofagrigus or a Ducklett evolving into a Swanna. But this is just my opinion, and I realize that it may not be shared by everyone.
However, I wanted to know the community's opinion on which generation they prefer the most and conduct a survey about it.
TL;DRI discussed my least favorite Pokémon generation with a friend. I stopped playing pokémon games after the fourth generation due to a broken DS Lite, while my friend continued and we disagree on the worst generation. I'm mainly looking for a chill low-apm (which means not too button mash-y) modern-ish RPG/MMORPG that I can move my character using sparse left or right click -- meaning I could click on the ground, have my character move for 1 or 2 seconds and then click again.

Some cues that might be useful:

1. Albion Online could have been the perfect game I am looking for but its sound mixing and graphics does not have oomph for me (I love flashy skill animations and crisp addicting sound effects)
2. Final Fantasy 14 could have been also a great game for me if I could mainly move with using only a left OR right click (afaik you could move with the mouse BUT pressing both left and right click at the same time)
3. I thoroughly enjoyed Diablo 2 and Diablo 2: Resurrected, tried Diablo 3 but it didn't click with me
4. I prefer playing something somewhat recent, aka no low-spec retro RPG/MMORPGs for me

Building my first SaaS after helping three startups reach the scale-up stage.
During my 3-4 years in sales as an Account Executive, I realized how everyone around me (colleagues, managers, CEOs, etc.) focused heavily on features during sales calls but struggled to close deals or resorted to selling with heavy discounts. They often experienced no-shows, being ghosted, deals suddenly stalling, and a lack of understanding as to why many deals were not closing, to mention a few examples.

Understand this will prompt some scoffing as I have a very solid CV, but as a non-UK person I need to seriously consider my prospects before committing to this.
I have a prize-winning first from a RG equivalent uni, a 2.1 (merit) Oxford BCL, and work experience in regulators and one of the big prestigious American firms in a niche practice area.
Not interested in the big commercial chambers, which I understand have a soft requirement of a BCL distinction, but would instead be looking into public/admin law/competition law chambers. I understand these things are never a sure thing regardless of your CV, but just wondering if I’m really wasting my time applying for bar scholarships if I don’t have reliable prospect of getting a pupillage within 2-3 cycles. Would appreciate any insight, again with the caveat that I understand I am a competitive candidate for basically any job - the UK bar is the one thing that still really scares me.

Looking for: a small-ish (15l seems about right, but between 10-20l would be fine) backpack that can pack flat in my luggage and that I can use for work conferences during the day.
Use case: A big chunk of my travel is attending conferences for work, and in those cases I tend to take a smallish checked bag and a 30-40l backpack. I’m happy with this setup and am not really looking to lighten the load (mostly because I’m disabled and have to travel with medical equipment, but also because I get wheelchair assistance at airports and tend to be assisted off the plane after my luggage, so one-bagging doesn’t improve my waiting times). But I’d like to take a smaller backpack for carrying a laptop, water bottle, and a few small items during the day. I use crutches to walk so can’t do a shoulder bag or messenger bag.
Features I’m looking for:

• available in the UK (very important - I’m travelling in a couple of weeks)
• internal laptop sleeve for a chunky 13” laptop (moderately important)
• stylish and work appropriate for a woman (moderately important, though subjective - Osprey is just a bit too casual, for example)
• decent straps (moderately important - ribbon straps are okay, given that I won’t be carrying this for long walks, but they need to be long enough and reasonably sturdy)
• not too big (moderately important - I think 12-15l would be ideal, but I’d consider up to 20l)
• under £150, preferably under £100 (moderately important - I’d be happy to pay for real quality but don’t need something over-engineered)

• Osprey Daylite Totepack: I ordered this and really like it, but it’s a bit too casual for work and a bit biggebulkier than I’d ideally like. Not sure if I’m going to keep it for other travel or return it
• Fjallraven Totepack 1/2: I love the look of these bags, but by all reports the straps are too short and it’s hard to wear as a backpack for larger people. I need something I can slip on and off quickly
• Fjallraven High Coast Totepack: super cute, and has better traps than the above, but I think it might lean a bit too casual
• Targus Newport Convertible: I like this one a lot but the bright orange interior is a bit TOO bright
• Radley 24/7 Zip Top Backpack, Longchamp Le Pliage Backpack, and Tumi Just in Case backpack: all cute, work appropriate, but no internal laptop sleeve/organizaton

My laptop died on me so I'm building a desktop to replace it. I don't need to buy any peripherals, so I can spend a bit more, however, the monitor I have right now is 1080p. I might buy a 1440p one later but for now I probably don't need anything too powerful.
Most of the games I play aren't intensive, but I'd like to be able to run games like Black ops 3, Rust, Read Dead Online, Spiderman etc at decent settings with a good framerate. I'll also use it for a Quest 2 (Pavlov, blade and sorcery etc) and for emulation.

I've spent a small fortune on Beat Saber - and I'm now realising just how poor they value is in buying full Albums (as opposed to individual tracks). Generally the Albums are priced based on the assumption that you'll want every track - but the albums are padded with dross (so you probably don't).
Before realising this I picked up:

• Queen Music Pack (Great Move - love all the tracks except one)
• Green Day Music Pack (Mild Mistake - should have just got 4 tracks, but only cost me a few pennies extra)
• Imagine Dragons Music Pack (Serious Mistake - should have just got 4 tracks)
• Fall Out Boy (Serious Mistake - should have just got 3 tracks)

Since then I've been far more selective and picked up 1 track from The Weeknd Music Pack, 1 from the Interscope Mixtape, 2 from the Panic! At The Disco Music Pack and 3 from the Rock Mixtape - i.e All the tracks I actually want - and I'm much happier.

so, i have been working on some logistics as off recently for a novel. Plot, arcs etc. are all pretty well down and i want to focus some time on the whole Space travel aspect. For the few pages it will be important xD Might as well. In doing so, i stumbled upon an idea which probably has been used already but i couldn't find it. So if what i am about to describe sounds familiar, let us known ! A quick disclaimer, for the following i want the concept to be judged on its feasibility and hardness. Setup Fairly simple, in this post i attempted to describe an Interstellar Transport System, ITS for shot because everything needs an acronym. The super TLDR is that we use a load of mirrors to create a very strong beams, which we focus on a big ass mirror. Photon pressure will then speed the ship up to half the speed of light. I changed aspects and specifics about this system since duo to the feedback. But the idea is identical. "Big ass beams tossing giant frisbee around". Though, after the rework the entire system is ~8 times weaker. Because the ship´s weigh less now. Only 2,6 Million tons :D Regardless, this is what we have as a setup. a giant Stelaser, or SPA in world, which can produce really powerful focused beams.

We have, a funnel or Bell. What we do is actually fairly simple, notice how all the light rays kind of clump up at the throat ? Well, the idea is that if we send a really powerful beam into the funnel / thruster, the light will accumulate in a focal point.
Now, in Universe they don't have commercial fusion because the more research i do the more impossible Fusion seems. Impossible as in commercially viable in any capacity. Seriously watch this guys videos on the matter. It is depressing. Anyways, with a sufficiently powerful beam and the smallest focal point possible this funnel would essentially turn into a Inertial confinement fusion reactor. Right, we "just" shoot pallets into the focal point off hell, where they fuse, expanding rapidly and pushing themselves out of the funnel to provide thrust.

Now, one issue most people will quickly see is that this kind of ship by default can only fly away from its energy source. However, this should be easy to fix. Ish. What we can do is use mirrors inside the funnel which can basically change their Index of Refraction (So the mirrors would have to be dielectric with multiple layers) in such a way that all the energy inside the funnel gets concentrated into the light tunnel. This would require some pieces inside the Thruster to physically move as well to bounce light into the tunnel. Or at least some of it. The light tunnel can then increase the energy density more to enable Fusion on the other side as well. This way, the design could fly towards and away from its energy source. Which of course also means it could actually be useful. One downside is that such a ship would always have to roughly point at its energy source. Which will limit where it can go. But for a cargo ship that should be manageable.
Aside from the suspiciously strong mirrors (I checked it in the other post, in terms of numbers you can make mirrors that could survive the energy densities required. But idk how this would work with Fusion. Ideally you would want the Fusion to happen in a wavelength your mirrors are designed to reflect 99.999%. Which is doable with dielectrics if stupidly expensive), a bigger concern is Radiation.
This kind of Fusion is, for the lack of a better term, cancer juice. From what i can tell, there is a 0% chance you can get Aneutronic Fusion going with this, it just requires to much energy. So you would have to use Hydrogen which is going to by ugly. In the image you can not really see it but I surrounded the focal line / volume with about 10 meters of stuff. The force of the Fusion itself shouldn't be a problem, because this aint going at 10G. As far as i can tell, just because you have a certain limit in terms of Radiator capacity, you could not accelerate fast enough for the force of the pallets imploding to become an issue. You would die from radiation way before that.
My guess is ~0.1 - 0.3G maybe. But it really depends on the ship mass, exact energy density etc.
I left the biggest issue for last. The angle of incidence. The ship pictured here has a wide throat opening of 28 meters and a length of 200 meters. Dielectric mirrors work really well in a narrow range of incidence angles. Some products on the market rn have 99.95% at +-10 Degrees. Which is amazing ! But in our case the incidence range is somewhat wider. around the +-80 degrees. Which is really bad.
Now i hear you ask "But Erik, why do we want the light to bounce around, wouldn't it be smarter to only bounce once into a focal point ? And yes, it would be. Please find me a shape that does that xD I have yet to find a shape which would work. The issue is we need the fusion to happen inside the Funnel. If the focal point is outside the Thruster, the Fusion event wont transfer any momentum to the ship. Keep in mind, in this specific configuration the Pallets we shoot into the beam of death carry like no momentum compared to the ship. It is the fusion product expanding inside the thruster that pushes us.
In the worst case, this concept would have to bite the bullet and lower the energy density until dielectrics can get the job done at the required range. From my sim´s, each light ray on average bounces 23 times before getting the fuck out of there.
Overall, idk. To me it seems in terms of pure logic this should work. But so should Fusion reactors. And where are we with those ? So, i hope i have explained the idea well enough for people to judge weather or not this is feasible, even at low accelerations of say 0.05m/s². My prediction is that it either works or there is a critical flaw which would turn the ship into a supernova. Nothing in-between.

And the long reply that goes with it. And my problem is: none of it works. The original guy saying you need to pick up the gun separately in order to get the clip worth of ammo -- nope, doesn't work for me. Importantly, I noticed it doesn't work because somehow in my game, there are no loose guns anymore. If anyone dies, their gun is melded to their hand, and cannot be manually picked up. No guns scattered on the ground after a fight. Instead, you have to go into the inventory menu for that body, and select the gun that way. And doing so does not give a clip's worth of bullets. It gives no bullets.
(To clarify, I can see the guns on the bodies, as I said the gun is held in the hand. However, it cannot be picked up or taken out of the hand, as it isn't loose on the ground like in my previous games. All guns are now "one with the corpse." The gun can still be taken by going to the body's inventory menu, but no ammo/clip comes with it.)
ALSO, the guy who replied to that post and said he tested it tons and works in various ways -- none of those ways work for me. I have no way to get clips of ammo. What am I doing wrong? I test on both my survival mode game, and a hard mode game. Neither game works, even with different characters.

Any ideas? What causes guns to meld to NPCs, and clips of ammo to be missing from guns when picked up? Thanks for any tips.
