On September 14th 2022 I went to my regular doctor and asked about a referral to bariatric.
I started tracking calories to achieve a deficit from that day. Highest weight at that appointment was 308. Bariatric goal was to get to 295 pre-surgery and did so by December. Continued to lose a bit as I waited for a surgery date. Surgery date set for March but I was lucky enough to have it moved up as I was so ready. Went in on Feb 23rd at 275.6lbs (on my home scale).
Starting weight: 308 Surgery day weight: 275.6lbs Pre-surgery loss: 32.4lbs in the months from September referral to February surgery.
Surgery and recovery went really smoothly (thanks to the great Kaiser team). I didn’t need the pain medications after 72 hours and was back at work (not a strenuous job) on day 5…and haven’t looked back.
Just about 10 days now since my three month group check in. The goal sheet they provided said I should be on track if my weight was between 247-233lbs. I am at 223.2
Weight day of surgery: 275.6 Current weight: 223.2lbs Post surgery loss: 52.4lbs 100 days post op!
So far total lost since September 2022 is 84.8lbs
I don’t know what will happen next, I hope everything stays on track.
I am averaging: 74oz of fluid per day and 110grams of protein per day
I’m male in the 40s and 5’10” if that helps anyone looking for benchmarking.

Hey yall
I recently repotted my monstera for the first time as she was seriously outgrowing her first pot. I used this potting mix, and also staked it with two clumps of bamboo rods to help it grow more upright. I did lots of research and most people recommended a more airy mix with perlite to keep the roots oxygenated. I assumed this mix would be optimal since it literally had a monstera on the cover, and I had used miracle-gro's plant food previously which seriously worked well for this same plant. Along with this, the lady at home depot was very helpful and vouched for this mix and brand.
However, when I took the soil out of the bag it seemed super dense. I repotted and watered it a few days ago and the soil is still extremely wet, wetter than I would expect it to be after the time that has passed. I read more reviews for the specific mix that I got and many people say it has serious drainage problems and retains way too much water that causes overwatering problems, with so many of the reviews stating to avoid using this mix with monsteras. I wish I did more research on this specific mix beforehand....
So far, many of the leaves seem to be doing okay. But two of the new leaves that have sprouted recently are drooping down rather than standing upright :(
Should I just stick with this new mix and see how it goes? Or would I be better off quickly changing the mix to one that's more optimal before it's too late? Would changing the soil so soon after repotting risk damaging my plant?
Please help. If pictures would be helpful I will gladly attach some, as I'm also unsure about how good of a job I did with the staking as well.

Long post but alot to explain.
Where to even start with this. I'm using a throwaway account as the people I know, might know who I'm talking about. Bare with me I'm going to try and give as much detail as possible (very highly stressed at the moment and might not be as clear as I could be).
Based in the UK
In the last year of uni I started living with a girl (lets call her Linda) who was a mutual friend of my best friend at the time. Didn't really know her except being told she smoked a lot of weed.
This was a bit of a Beige flag for me as I don't smoke or drink (mental health reasons its just not good for me fine if you do etc). I didn't have anyone else to live with so just went along with it which was alright.
When we were there for the year we were pretty close and both had alot of health/mental health issues going on. I had just been made homeless before returning to uni so my head was a bit all over the place.
Meaning I coped with the third year in kind of a mess. I started to smoke alot and eat alot of weed and drank to the point of addiction, when the fun stops, stop. I didn't stop, I had unprotected intimacy with a man and I'm not proud of it (took morning after pill, he didn't cum but yano just in case), it was a real wake up call. I had to get myself in order.
Linda, wouldn't drop that (because I was trying to stop) I wasn't being fun anymore, and that I was just a bit boring now, that I was trying to stop before it go worse.
Anyways, we left uni and then I kinda drifted and separated myself from her a bit as there was this toxic pressure to be the party girl. There were nights were it was fun but yeah, fuck me for trying to be sober.
2013 hits and I'm moving out of uni and met this new guy and I was a huge emotional wreck at this point and moved to a place far away from home in another County and yeah, didn't know anyone besides partner at the time and I drifted from this Linda girl and my best friends.
Linda didn't contact me until about 2015/2016 when I was due to visit home and make me feel guilty for not drinking and not having the party spirit I once did, the whole night I could order soft drinks and she would be pouring spirits from a hip flask into them (i was furious and accused her of being a date rapist).
She dropped contact with me and stayed as a back ground facebook friend. Just occasionally sending me messages with unsolicited tarot readings consistently and I believe in all the spiritualism things but, god did this get on my nerves.
2019 I break up with the guy in a different county and I head home. I see Linda a few times at the local gigs and stuff, nothing too intense.
THEN Covid hits, I started dating my current partner and moved into my own flat. In the same home town as Linda and one my best friends.
Because of Covid I checked up digitally with everyone and ran weekly quizzes on zoom which was great, kept the moral spirit going and people really liked them. I was so happy because I stayed sober and had been doing really well...
Before the stressed up me, returned again. Linda was very insistent that because we lived in the same town that we bubbled ( I have vulnerable family and my partner did too) so I had my 6 people and stuck to it religiously.
Anyway, the pressure began to rise, she started fancying a friend of mine we will call him Dan and got kinda obsessed with him.
2021 they share a few intimate text messages and then that was it in terms of intimacy and flirtation. She got obsessed with Dan.
She was making me the middle man, making mine and hers friendship seem like we were best mates. Which truthfully after uni I never really felt that close due to previous actions.
She wanted to get closer to Dan and Linda was driving me mad as ALL the messages had that ulterior motive of "Hey how are you... I wanna bitch about Dan"
When I say she is obsessed with DAN I mean it. Accusing him of things that are wild and beyond what actually happened.
Bear in mind due to previous actions I was trying to separate myself from Linda, she got pally in 2021 with this other girl called Sammy who is so toxic. And basically since that friendship Linda turned into a bit of dick.
Sammy has blocked me on social media because I called her out on being a dick.
I feel that Sammy has influenced her and the company she keeps is nasty.
In late 2021 I found out I was expecting my son and found out super late into the pregnancy and told my "friends" over zoom about this and that I was worried and scared.
2022 had the baby and because I had, had that night of upset and off loading, Linda held it against me and was supportive but also very draining emotially on me.
Always wanting to see the baby, hang out etc and again I kept her at arms length and kinda deteriorated mental health wise quite a bit.
I wasn't good health wise and was diagnosed with Post-partum depression, PTSD, psychosis and DID oh and anxiety (cause fuck yeah get all the diagnosis I've got a dark sense of humour applogies and I'm seeking help for this and need to be on meds too for it so I'm good for my son he is literally everything)
I couldn't cope and isolated mostly, I tried my best and made a group chat so that I could just say things the once and again tried to be there for people if they reached out to me.
But again a month post partum Linda asked about how I was and was again ulterior motive about Dan.
So I tried my best to be supportive, I was on alot of drugs to recover from the c-section, I was also yano busy being Mum, so things slipped a bit friend wise.
I know I'm not a neglectful friend as I contact and reach out where and when I can. I've always been mindful of checking in on people.
Linda was very needy and I explained in that friend group chat what I can and can't do. Emotionally and physically. And said please don't DM personally
But she kept on and on and then messaged my partner Andy and on and on it went and then more tarot readings and more and more about me, Andy and my son Allan. All the time
I don't feel like I have to justify having a life and prioritising my son and being accused of being neglectful is a bit rich really.

As I was wiping down the bathroom and washing those towel rags that I had used as additional mops, I thoughts about those dreams I've had of you. That golden piece of advice that your mom told me (rather, it was my decision to put into practice the wisdom your mom told me) still screams out to me as I'm looking into that now empty bedroom and closet. I wiped the blinds remembering those dreams of you proposing, "GalaxiGazer, will you marry me?" (I'll share one secret from you from those dreams where you proposed and I said "yes" each time with no hesitation. Besides that smug, happy and confident look in your face when you asked me, I had noticed a common theme: there was no ring. Now I know why: I already have it. When you're here, I'll show it to you and explain to you the significance of the ring's design) Back then, in 2021-2022, I laughed at the idea and found the concept nothing more than a joke to me at the time. Now, at the time (2020), I was very resistant to the idea of a soulmate and found the concept amusing. I've watched the show with appreciation over these past three years and I'm thankful that you introduced the show to me. Even more, I'm beginning to embrace you as my soulmate.
I just want to tell you thank you for continuing to walk with me, even if it's just in your soul and spirit alongside me right now. I'm thankful for the blessing of having you on my mind, almost like you're right here with me. I'm thankful for the blessing that my feelings for you have grown, changed, and matured over these past three years and our separation was such a sanctifier, burning away all those impure, immature, and negative things that had prevented you from being close to me. I have the amsosen mattress (memory foam, medium firm) and its being used with Luroy slats on Bjorksnas king frame. I feel luroy might be flexing a lot and causing the mattress to sink/feel too plush for comfort.

Hey, so i have been helping a friend for sometime with getting her VA benefits set up so she can move back home etc. We got her claim made during FEB of 2023 and she got out MAR of 2022 so my understanding is that she will receive back pay? Her claim recently finished taking her from 20% to 80% but she only received ~$4800. What steps would we need to take for trying to claim back pay? or is it something we are out of luck on?

Greetings fellow horror homies 👻 I just finished Swan Song and boy howdy what a ride. It's been quite a while since I read something so long and while it did take me like, 2 months of on and off reading, it felt like it flew by and I'd put it down thinking "dang, I did not realize I just read like 80 pages!" It was quite refreshing to read something that was more epic in scope and more of a journey compared to the 250-300 page novels I usually read, and I feel accomplished and less intimidated by heftier books now. The version I bought also had a new afterword from McCammon from 2022 that I thought really hit home and was quite heartfelt - if you happen to come across this edition, definitely check it out.
As for the story itself, I've always been really into post-apocalyptic fiction and media (particularly of the nuclear variety), so this was right up my alley, and I found myself really loving and really hating a lot of characters. And though there were a lot of really horrible things happening, I still got the vibe that everything would be okay in the end, which kept me going and was also really refreshing compared to the usual bleak and somber things I tend to read. It really came down to which of my favorite characters would make it out, and by the end I was sobbing on my couch.>! RIP Paul and Sister, y'all were real ones 🫡!<
I do think there were some things that were kind of tropey and predictable, but I feel like it worked and felt like one of those classic good vs. evil adventure type books which I don't really read a lot of. I've seen a lot of people compare it to The Stand, but I've never read it so I can't really speak on that. If you have, what say you?

Hi All,
I have a 2016 Hyundai Accent SE Hatchback which recently had all 4 tires replaced in November 2022 by Town Fair Tire (TFT).
In February 2023, TFT also did a "Flat Repair with TPMS recal" on a slow leak after I ran over a nail in the Home Depot parking lot. Thankfully I noticed the leak right away and I was able to drove over to a nearby TFT to get it fixed while it was still filled with enough air to safely do so. My car came with a Kia "tire mobility kit" instead of a donut or spare, and when I had the flat tire happen and I was chatting with the TFT staff I found out that if I had actually used the kit it would have voided out my tire warranty.
My Kia tire mobility kit is now expired and due to it's several limitations- it can only be used one time, hazardous/can't use it if a tire has sidewall damage, and using it at all could potentially void out a TFT tire warranty- I am more inclined to opt for purchasing a spare tire & scissor jack rather than replacing the tire mobility kit. It will give me peace of mind to know that no matter what type of damage my tire may incur in the future, how far away from home I might be adventuring, or how tight my schedule & commitments may be at the time, I can always quickly swap out a damaged tire with the spare tire in the trunk and then deal with the repairing or replacing the damaged one whenever it is convenient for me.
If anyone else has gone this route with switching over to a spare or donut, I'd be interested to hear what type of tire brand, etc. you selected. Additionally, I consider my 4 current tires "new" since they are all only 7 months old with less than 5,000 miles on each of them, but I could use some input- when I purchase a new spare tire, should I have it installed on the car right away to give it a little wear & tear or should it just go straight into the trunk and not be rotated in until a flat/emergency happens?

My father-in-law passed away last year and his will stipulated that all of his possessions should be split between his children (my wife and her sister).
Some background, my wife and sister are not really close but while my father-in-law was sick and living at home my sister-in-law moved in to help care for him. She was managing all of his finances, which my wife was ok with because we live out of state and her father really didn't want to go into a care facility and preferred to die at home when the time came.
After he passed my sister in law said she wanted to move into his old home and was going to sell her own home. She had rally been living 95% of the time at the her fathers house for almost a year and we had implored her to sell her property while the market was hot. She is a bit of a hoarder and was also dealing with a lot of emotional stuff including the death of her husband from cancer several years earlier.
So once my sister-in-law said she wanted to live in the house she started saying based on zillow it was only worth around 200,000k which was way under the market value. Zillow didnt have the square footage or number of bedrooms correct. We requested that she get an appraisal done on the house which she said she did but we hadn't seen it until recently. She also asked my wife if she could wait and pay her portion of the house money until she sold her own home (385000 no idea how much she owed on it) which my wife agreed to (not the best idea but she feels bad for her sister). I think her goal in all of this was to get out of her house and into the house of my father-in-law without a mortgage.
Appraisal was done in November of 2022 and we now know the house was appraised for 345,000. Appraisal noted that it needed an estimated 25k of estimated work fix up the house.
Sister finally sold her house at the end of May and reached out to my wife saying that she is ready to settle the fathers house but the market value (in her opinion has now changed) and its only worth 300,000k. Additionally, she has had a bunch of work done on the house to resolve some significant issues with electrical, relocating an LP tank, repainting the exterior, but also done a lot of cosmetic stuff such as new flooring. The total for all of this work she has had done is ~52k, i'd guess about 35k of that was legit things that needed to be fixed to get the house in a state where it could be sold, so we are not disputing that part.
Sister also included about 12,000 for repairs to a barn on the property that haven't been performed yet but says my wife is responsible for half of that as well. My wife has no intention of paying for as it doesn't impact the price of the house and also are improvements that her sister is wanting to make so she could use the barn. I think this entire amount is totally optional.
So, I guess the question is how to proceed with this mess. I have tried to stay out of this as it's not really my business and my wife has tried to be flexible as she feels bad for her sister and feels that she did take the brunt of caring for her father.
At this point my wife is leaning towards saying the house is valued at the original $345,000 and she will pay her half of the 52k (not the additional 12k for the barn. 293,000/2 = ~146,000 vs only receiving about 102,000 based on the sister's proposal and after all the expenses.
The other option would be to get another appraisal done on the house with the improvements and repairs and just spilt it 50/50 based on the new appraisal and not pay anything towards the expenses.
She feels that the sister is taking advantage of her, and we are taking on the burden of trying to help her out by basically paying to fix up the house for her to live in.
Would love some advice on how to get out of this mess. I know this was not a good idea to begin with and things should have just been split up at the time of death but lots of emotions involved in this.

Mud and Leaves is taking preorders from a 100k farm for $175-$195/100g. I know the store is known for its Yinxing pottery, and has a great reputation, but that's seriously pricey just to take a chance.
Does anyone have experience sourcing Da Yu Long or Foushoushan?

Just small details now to finish the garage. submitted by bm677 to garageporn [link] [comments] Epoxy flooring: I used the Armor Garage, Armor chip system. I paid extra for the primer and the better topcoat. Since my garage was built ~6 months ago (16x28), I I kept the floor covered while I waited for the concrete to cure and the weather to warm up to prevent any staining and make the floor prep. easier. Prepping the floor is the biggest time sink and despite covering the floor, there were little stains from paint and spackle that needed to be cleaned. I hard brushed a degreaser onto the floor then power washed. My original intent was to acid wash only after this step; however, I ended up renting a grinder from home depot to rnsure the floor was ready and then did an acid wash after grinding the floor. (FYI, the concrete slurry is a pain to remove and is still on my driveway.) I had to use my angle grinder with a diamond blade to get the edges and a few missed spots the next day. I let the floor dry for three days then started the application which took 3 days in total: day 1-primer; day 2 - epoxy coating and flakes; day 3 - clear topcoat. All in all I’m glad with how this turned out. The floor changed the garage into what feels like an extension of the house rather than a separate space. Definitely some things I could’ve done better but not bad for my first and hopefully last time! The kit says you can drive on it in 3 days but I’m going to wait a week before bringing my car back in. |
