I'm getting behind in these. Time to catch up.
When Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City is mentioned (formerly known as the Atlantic City Convention Center) every organ fan instantly thinks of the gigantic Midmer-Losh organ in the main hall. Few people know about the Kimball organ that lives in the much smaller ballroom just in the front part of the building. By ballroom, I could also say gym, as apparently they play basketball in this space. Even though this is the small space, it's still built to Atlantic City scales.
And the organ there, while quite a bit more modest compared to it's neighbor, is, as Nathan Bryson points out in the video, still in itself a very landmark instrument. This organ never suffered the damage from weather, construction workers, and neglect that the big organ did. At least not as badly, and because it's smaller, to less effect. This organ is fully playing, and about 90% restored. The AC guys have been trying to get us out to see this organ for some time, so finally, in April, we got in the car and headed for the boardwalk.
This organ is unique in that the organ builders wanted to create a theatre organ, and the organ designers wanted a more classical instrument. The result is an instrument with its feet in both worlds. It still has quite an early 20th century sound, and adding a Wurlitzer tremolo to the Kimball Tibia pipes certainly helps that, but it is capable of playing more classical rep. Jonathan Farnsley was there to help out as well, but he didn't show up on camera.
We arrived about 1pm, and by 5 we were done shooting, but that left time to go take a little tour of the big organ. We got as much as we could before our batteries died, and that content may make it to YouTube someday. We shall see.

I graduated with my master’s in Accounting in 2019 and finished my CPA in 2021. I worked in audit for 2 years and left before I made senior because fuck that. I’ve since worked at 2 other jobs doing basically corporate/general accounting and I hate it oh so much. I feel like I have to get away from this shit entirely. Even the thought of being promoted to manager or higher in an accounting job and having to do even more of this stuff fills me with dread.
How easy is it to transition from accounting to something like data analytics, revenue ops, or project management? I’m not trying to to back to school but I’d be open to doing maybe some online courses to learn skills. Has anyone used their accounting background to get into something completely different?

If it was the #1 album I wouldn’t be mad about it. It is just simply one of the most influential albums ever released. Elton John, Prince, Micheal Jackson, and George Micheal all have stated that this was their pick for the best album. It’s a record that just holds you in and explores so many musical styles. It took Stevie two years to complete this juggernaut of a record. Even though I personally prefer Innervisons over this one (I just think it is a tightest set of songs and love the funkiness of the album) there’s no denying the scope of this album. The album opens with the sermon done in R&B music “Love’s In Need Of Love Today” That mellow groove is so entrancing. I love the back-up vocals that give this song a sense of warmth. “Have A Talk With God” has this weird funky groove much like Prince. I think Stevie incorporates spiritually and religion into his music and doesn’t make it seem too preachy. “Village Ghetto Land” has this lush orchestral sound even though it is just Stevie voice and a synthesizer on the track that music is in contrast to the subject of the track. As Stevie describes some awful imagery of a poor neighborhood it almost feels like he is giving a tour to a group of wealthy tourists exploring what they conceive a poor urban area to be. Such a brilliant take on racial and class divisions in this country. “Contusion” is a funky mostly instrumental jam. Some great guitar work on the track that melds perfectly with the funky grooves of the song. Mike Sembello handles those guitar tones on the track. One of the things different about this album then other Stevie albums is the fact he worked with session musicians (150 played some part on the record) to give the record a more of a live feel. This is one of the songs that definitely benefited from that. “Sir Duke” is one of Stevie’s signature songs; it has this funky jazzy sound that echoes all over the place. The title is a tribute to jazz legend Duke Ellington who passed away in 1974 two before this album’s release. He wanted the song to honor his jazz heroes Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitgerald, Count Blaise, and Sodarisa Miller are all mentioned on the song. The song is just filled with high energy grooves mostly thanks to that horn section rocks it all over the place. “I Wish” continues funky jazz grooves that harken back to the day of Stevie’s youth. That horn section once again drives the song but also that funky bass line by Nathan Watts steals the show. That bassline is one of the reasons this song is one of the most sampled Stevie songs. “Knocks Me Off My Feet” has this warm sturdy R&B groove that also has some lushness to it. Some will recognize “Pastime Paradise” from its use in Coolio’s “Gangsta Paradise” ; there is such anxiety on both versions of this song. Those menacing strings/synths just build and build until it finally crescendos on the closing minutes of the song. “Summer Soft” just feels like a song that you would play driving down the road with the windows down on a nice summer day. It just bops and flows. It just feels warm and happy. “Ordinary Pain” has this miditemp groove that just feels infectious. This is one of the great troupes in Stevie’s musical visions. I mean the man is a genre all his own. “Isn’t She Lovely” written for Stevie’s daughter Aisha. It continues the funky warmness that flows throughout this album. This song is just sensational. It has been used in so many tv shows and movies. “Joy I My Tears” is a love ballad that could be about his daughter, lover, or his spiritually. “Black Man” is a quick history lesson in black pride. It would make Ron Desatis and his anti-woke propagandists blow a gasket. That funky jazzy groove just sounds electrifying. “Ngiculela-Es Una Historia-I Am Singing” just feels joyous and what music should be all about. Love the rhythm of the track. “If It’s Magic” has this great harp that is featured throughout the whole track. It just sounds mystical and entrancing. “As” has this sprawling mid tempo groove that just feels big. It features Herbie Hancock on keys. There's a gospel vibe flowing through the whole song. Stevie changes his voice at the midway point to a more gruff tone. As he preaches about how we have to change our ways. The official end of the album is “Another Star” which has this epicness to it. 10 musicians appear on the song with Wonder. Including George Beneson on lead guitar and actually takes over lead vocals towards the end of the track. I get a very latin vibe in the rhythms. It is a great way to end the album. This is just a great musical statement by one of the greatest musical forces ever. Stevie Wonder’s run of albums in the 70’s is some of the greatest music ever recorded and should be on everyone’s bucket lists. No, it is currently not available for streaming on Crunchyroll or on any streaming platform.
That being said, the film is being distributed internationally by Crunchyroll and Sony, and they were responsible for bringing the movie to theaters. The movie saw its theatrical worldwide release in April 2023, but fans still have to wait for streaming it online.

However, since this film is a Sony production, it falls under the production company’s deal with Netflix, where all theatrical releases by Sony Pictures end up on Netflix a few months after the premiere. Hello comrades in IA,
I think I’m ready to throw in the towel and get out of audit for good in search of a finance role. I can’t stand the formality, the internal politics, the nit picking the review notes etc etc etc. I’ve done this for 7 years both in public and industry and I’m ready to be done :).
I am thinking about putting in for an internal transfer to a financial analyst role in my company. Has anyone had experience transitioning from IA to analyst ?

i work as a trainee for a technical service firm. recently we received an ASHRAE energy audit request but had to turn it down because the more experienced engineers in my firm don't have experience in that.
i asked my PM about it and he told me that because we lack the knowledge and experience for it, we cant conduct the service. i told him that while i studied abroad, i learned everything in regards to energy Management with Energy audit being one. he told me to look into a presentation for the internal management and we can take it from there.
id like to give some context as we are situated on the island of Aruba, a small Caribbean island of about 110k population. energy auditing is not a competitive field as most commercial firms outsource their auditors, but we on the other hand wanna start with local auditors.
so i begun my research and broiled down to 2 main issues, certification and benchmarking. certification is obvious, i just go and take my CEA exam and pass it, though Benchmarking is my biggest issue.
our energy department does not publicly post commercial energy use of different types of building, and i dont have any connections to ask for someone else is energy use to do direct comparison with.
so my question is, how can i benchmark a building when i dont have another (local) source to benchmark it with?

I wanna be a film actor, and I studied film acting abroad. Whenever I’m at film auditions I feel great and confident and what not. I’m trained in Meisner so I feel in touch with my emotions and I feel like I can even channel the anxiety into whatever emotion I’m meant to portray. A year ago I enrolled in a university programme in theatre acting, and I feel like it was a mistake. I’ve always enjoyed theatre and I thought I’d get into theatre acting as well but the more time passes the more I feel like I just hate it and that makes me think I’m not a proper actor at all. To be honest, I still think I’d love to act in plays that have defined characters and relationships but all we do at my uni is super experimental and performance oriented and it’s not really my thing. On the bright side, I thought it’d at least give me some confidence, but today I had a theatre audition that went horribly. The first task was to sing and it made me super anxious till the rest of the thing and I could tell they didn’t like me at all.
Anyway the point of all that is it pisses me off that in my country actors are not really valued for their “film” skills. I see actors on TV who overact horribly and have zero connection to their screen partners but they’re considered good cause they can do theatre. I feel like I’d be way better on screen but I can’t get there cause I’m not good in theatre. The programme is an MA so it’s gonna be over soon, no point quitting I guess. I just wanted to rant.

Hi, my supervision and hours worked records are not in my possession. How do I get this information for an audit of my hours to submit to inactivate my RBT certification? I’m not employed as an RBT at this time. It seems that the easiest way to get this information is through scheduling and my session notes as an RBT. But I don’t have that stuff as it would be a HIPPA violation.
