cleaner pushed my wife and stole our money

2023.06.07 01:25 tokar1993 cleaner pushed my wife and stole our money

Hired a cleaner at a online site that was offering good deals on house cleaners.
Yesterday (06/05/2023) she showed up TWO HOURS LATE, when she said she would be there 30 minutes past the time she was supposed to be there. ok what ever. Come home and she has our bathroom DESTROYED... Totes of stuff dumped out etc.
She said she had been there an "hour" and could she come back and finish the job tomorrow? We told her that wouldn't be necessary and to please leave.
She became IRATE and was screaming saying "I'm taking the f*cking money"! (We had $10 sitting on the counter. AT no time was it implied or spoken this was her tip.) She put her hands on my wife and pushed her out of the way and grabbed the money, her bag and fast walked out as my wife and i are screaming at her to stop and come back with the money.
She also took my keys and left them at a random gas station down the road, idk why? But I did get those back yesterday night from the clerk there.
Reddit do I have a criminal case here? We did verbally tell her that was NOT her tip when she grabbed it and she knew it wasn't.
This happened in Indiana, USA.
And yes, I do normally tip 20-50 percent and wouldve been glad to give her a tip if she did work but instead she didn't do any work and just destroyed our bathroom Which we had to clean up (lol).

2023.06.07 01:24 goingbacktochina Objective opinion request for a potential buyer.

I am looking to buy a Canadian AWD gt line pkg 2. It's essentially the proper tier competitor to the model y dual MTR long range. Due to the stupid shortage, the dealership has tacked on a few thousand dollars on top of MSRP. This makes the price of the model Y just slightly above when all in (Maybe 2.5k). The ev6 is still a minimum 1 year wait time. While the model Y is nearly instant delivery here. What do you guys think? I have a gas gussler so it's hemorrhaging gas , but still functional so waiting isn't too big of an issue. I am having a lot of issues choosing because of this though. Kia isn't known for good service and the lack of tech/knowledge on EVs scare me. Whereas where I am, there's a Tesla every 5 cars I see. I was originally hella attracted to a lower price and the sexy design but realistically I'm buying a kia for the price of cars with a better reputation of reliability. So if possible, can anyone who owns this car give me some objective opinions to steer me in either direction?
Thanks!

2023.06.07 01:14 ThrowRAssummer How to tell my (25F) boyfriend (27M) I am not comfortable with him moving to a house directly across from a prison?

My boyfriend (27M) and I (25F) have been dating for 9 months, and our relationship has been great. I feel so strongly about him and I could very well see us getting engaged within the next year or so. He is a very kind and compassionate person.
My lease ended in February, and I renewed my lease for 12 months to live with my roommate again, since I didn’t really have any other options at the time and I like my apartment.
My boyfriend’s lease is up this month, and his roommate is moving to a new city, leaving him with nowhere to live. With his current salary and student loans from grad school he has a very tight budget, pricing him out of almost all 1 bedroom and studio apartments.
One of the few places he can afford is a house for rent in a neighborhood in the city. He said the house is lovely and spacious, and it looks very nice in the photos.
However, when I look at the neighborhood in google maps, I can see the area is…questionable — boarded up windows, graffiti, trailers, gas station with broken windows, and to top it all off…a huge US penitentiary for male offenders within 1000 ft of the house. It is very clear to me why the rent is so low.
I brought my concern up to him, and he said not to worry about it and that he’s lived in worse places and it will only be a year. However, I really don’t feel comfortable spending time there (I currently spend 2-3 nights a week at his place) and do not want to visit this neighborhood at night. I am a small female with no self defense skills, and neither of us have any intention of owning a weapon.
Not to mention, I witnessed a shooting on the same street about a year ago which was somewhat traumatic for me. I just do not feel good about him moving there, but I do not want to act controlling or cause drama since it is ultimately up to him. Additionally, we come from different backgrounds with me being upper-middle class and he considers his family working class, so I don’t want to come across as disconnected from reality or make him feel less than for not being able to afford something nicer. I just don’t know the best way to go about handling this.
TLDR; my boyfriend needs to move but the only place he can afford is directly across from a prison. I don’t know how to tell him that I am not okay with him moving there.
Edit to add: we live in a city with very high crime rates, but both of us currently live in relatively safe neighborhoods

2023.06.07 00:43 Captain_Narwhals Question regarding displacement and longevity (Honda Rebel)

I'm looking into getting a beginner bike, but I'm mainly interested in easier maintenance and cheaper gas compared to a car. I'm not really interested in high performance since I'm mainly going to be riding around town, with the occasional (1-2 times a year) few hour road trip. I've mainly narrowed my choices down to the Rebel 500, but I figured I would get a longer life out of an 1100 on account of the more powerful engine being less stressed by highway speeds. I was wondering if this was true, and if so, if it would be to a degree that's worth the increase in price. Again, I don't really need the extra speed/power.

2023.06.07 00:34 crutisidex Bike recommendations for heavy commuting

I will be starting a part-time degree program and will need to commute 182mi (round trip), mostly highways, ~3 times per week for classes, so I am definitely looking to cut gas costs by riding instead. I'm looking for a bike with a decent range, that can at least make half the trip (91mi) and, of course, good mpg for a relatively affordable price, as I am a student. For context, I am a prospective rider and haven't taken any rider courses nor do I have an endorsement, but I am very motivated to get fully licensed by the end of the year.
That said, I'm currently looking at the Honda Rebel 300, and the Royal Enfield Meteor and Classic 350s. All of these run for less than $5,000 MSRP, which is pretty much my budget for a bike considering the cost of the licensing and all the gear I need, maybe I could stretch it to ~$6,000. My knowledge in this field is pretty limited, so I'm hoping to get some insight as to whether these are good options for my situation, and if you have any personal experience with these bikes, which one would be the best. I'm open to other suggestions as well but please note I am 5'5" and only weigh 120lbs so I'm also a bit limited to bikes that are easier to handle.

2023.06.07 00:31 IStoleYourBacon Cayman VS Miata VS RCF

From a young age I was in love with japanese sports cars. I bought a mr2 turbo about 6 years ago and was in love for many years. Then I bought a v8 4runner and something crazy happened, I fell in love with the torque and sound of the toyota v8. Then a close friend of mine got a s550 Mustang GT PPL1. Whatever they did to the s550 chassis wise with the PPL1 suspension is a work of genius because I have ridden in numerous previous generations of mustangs and they do not even remotely compare. Around corners this thing feels better than the mr2 even though I am mid engine and have upgraded suspension! The turbo spooling no longer captivates me the way the v8 roar does.
So I have decided to sell the mr2 and for it's replacement these are the things I value: 1. Handling 2. Big NA engine 3. Reliable and affordable to maintain
So I fell down the rabbit hole of savagegeese and zygrene videos and found that something like a cayman 981 has a NA flat6, is mid engine, probably has much better handling than the s550 or mr2. The trade off is how much more you spend on maintenance.
A newer miata (NC or ND) is the practical choice as it has amazing handling and it's reliabile and cheaper to maintain than anything else I am looking at but the 4 banger sound is just hard to love and at 200hp I wonder think I will be left wishing for more.
Then you have the RCF/ISF/GSF/is500 which should be very reliable and have an amazing engine but will cost a lot in gas and tires, and are big and heavy.

What I want here is a new mr2, with the v8 from the lexus, for the price of a miata, which is never going to happen. So is the price of ownership on a cayman worth it? Do the lexus v8s handle well enough? Does a newer miata have enough engine?

Charge pipes wont fit?
I ordered the CTS Turbo charge pipe for my 2014 435 drive, shop said it didnt fit (2nd Pic) so they had to put an oem one on and it blew up again. So I went to the BMW dealership and they said they ordered the part based off the VIN and it didnt fit either? Then I told CTS turbo it wouldnt fit and they sent me another one. I am going to the dealership to give them the new part tomorrow. Hopefully it fits? Im so confused as to why the metal ones wont fit, i made sure it was for the drive and everything any ideas? The car did have front end damage when i bought it but it wasnt rebuilt status or anything, could that be it?

I move to Japan next month and I'm trying to create a budget. I'll be living in Nishishinjuku Gochome. I've done some research but I know that the price of some things has gone up recently. Here's what I've come up with so far, not including rent: Utilities(heat/electricity/gas/water): 25,000 Food: 30,000 (my company usually provides lunch/dinner on weekdays) Cellphone plan: 3,278 (Rakuten) Internet: 6,000 Transportation: 8,000 (company pays to/from work) Healthcare: 15,000 (for meds/regular doctor visits) gym: 10,000 personal care: 12,000 (toiletry items, etc.) fun: 20,000
Are my numbers accurate? I'm mostly concerned about utilities, cellphone plan, or internet, as things like food or fun vary from person to person.

2023.06.06 23:44 BitBaydev Weekly Update for the BitBay Community (June 4th)

Development Updates:
- We have exciting news to share! Our developer has managed to allocate some time in his busy schedule to start updating the C++ code for BitBay. This update will enable BitBay to bridge into the Ethereum-based ecosystem as an ERC-20 token. More time will be allocated as he completes his other major task. This will allow us to bring the dynamic peg protocol to all EVM's. It is a form of price stability without being hard pegged.
- Additionally, we have discovered that Avalanche (AVAX) has released a protocol that allows any ERC-20 token to be used for gas on any platform. This development will significantly benefit BitBay's bridge in the DEFI sector. https://twitter.com/el33th4xostatus/1665368786004852737?s=20. Bridged BitBay tokens still utilize a form of our dynamic peg protocol, the peg requires more contracts than usual. With this new protocol from AVAX, swapping and adjusting the peg index will become extremely affordable. You can find the Goerli Testnet of BitBay's Swap here: https://dzimbeck.github.io/test-page/.
- Moreover, this improvement will enhance the cost-efficiency of our EtHalo marketplace. The Goerli Testnet EtHalo beta can be accessed at: https://bithalo.org/Ethalo/. EtHalo is a double deposit escrow marketplace that operates without a middleman. By eliminating the need for a middleman, we reduce fees and increase profitability.
Thank you for your continued support! We are getting closer to the finish line! For more information on how the dynamic peg works feel free to check out this presentation: https://bitbay.market/downloads/bitbay-dynamic-peg-intro.pdf

Deep Dive on the helium opportunity and Total Helium (TOH.v TTLHF), the only publicly traded producer of helium
Check out this insightful video from The Deep Dive introducing the helium opportunity and detailing the history, industrial uses, the helium shortage 4.0 and more: https://youtu.be/weVLF-Cn3y8?t=1
Helium plays an essential role in a range of industries and is a critical component of various applications including MRI machines, semiconductor manufacturing, and fiber optics.
With no substitutes and a limited supply, the $4.4 billion helium market is facing a current supply shortage due to helium's significant demand, resulting in a supply crisis that is squeezing prices higher.

Positioned to be a top supplier of helium in North America & yielding significant returns with its strategy of acquiring already producing assets to eliminate a large amount of risk, Total Helium (TOH.v TTLHF) is the only publicly traded producer of helium.

TOH is on track to have 20 wells by the second quarter of 2023, with plans to scale up to over 150 wells at its 27,000-acre Pinta South Project located in Arizona's Holbrook Basin, a major and helium-rich field site.
Notably, the gas concentrations at Pinata South are 5-8% which is significantly higher than the average helium concentration of up to 3%.

With an already established network of industry relationships and helium-producing sites at various natural gas reservoirs, TOH has partnered with the largest industrial gas company in the world, Linde ($LIN, $170+B market cap), who have committed to fund the pipeline expansion for the project and pay $500/Mcf for the first 10 wells
This partnership solidified robust economics for the project as TOH's two wells have already produced 50,000mcf of helium at 8% which amounts to over $9M of helium in three years just from the partnership.
Strongly positioned to support the rapid growth of America’s high-tech industries that depend on helium, TOH provides a compelling investment opportunity to capitalize on a high-growth industry.

2023.06.06 23:41 snippythehorses MVIS looks to present an attractive short opportunity

Looking at MVIS, there has been alot of internet hype about the stock. It's tough to nail down exactly why it is rallying, but I suspect its purely due to short squeeze mechanics. The shares available on iborrowdesk have shrunk to as little as 59 shares available and the fee has jumped to 59%. Considering how heavily shorted this is and how short sellers have learned how to better control these situations after GME and other meme stock run ups, the smart money is saying its going back to where it came from.
I can remember playing BBBY back in August and similar mechanics were at play. MVIS has run up from about 1.82 low to now to a high of 7.27 or almost a 4 fold run up. BBBY ran from about 5 bucks to 30 for a 6 fold run up which really only stopped because Cohen sold his stake. So there may be more gas in the tank.
MVIS also had a similar run from about $1.80 to $7 back in 2020 leading into 2021. From there it was able to achieve a price of 24 and several months later 28. However this go around, there is no stimulus money available to the public or easy loans for people to take out and yolo on the stock. Considering the liquidity necessary to carry the squeeze on is not there and retail primarily only buys options, I'd say MVIS is primed for a nice run back down to about 5.30 (where it came from today) into the end of this week.
After this downturn which is likely to be a daily grind down, it may be a good time to look at going long again until you see another blow off top on very big volume.
Going long again due to another hype cycle via an event they are participating in June: MVIS ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle Technology Expo in Stuttgart on June 13-15. Will showcase MAVIN and MOVIA lidar sensor product line. Visitors can also catch MOSAIK Suite.
I like the idea of everyone in over $4 being wipped out and that probably presents a good long price point. It posted 30M today in volume which is almost up there in terms of 12 month volume highs. The company posted earnings on the 9th losing $19 million in the 1st quarter and made only 782k in revenue. 2022 saw only about 600k in revenue compared to just 2017 with 17.61 Million in revenue (pretty sharp decline).
So MVIS is either going into the ground tomorrow and friday. Or it resists going lower and powers into June 13-15. The news whatever it is on June 13-15 will be no different of an effect than how AAPL just had a nice decline into their event. Plan accordingly

2023.06.06 23:38 No-Boat-1913 AITA for not driving my friends to the final exams?

We have finals in a near city and before the exam my uncle was going to take us for 20 dollars each (gas is very expensive in my country and he had to take us for three days) my friend suggested the price and me and my friend said okay and i told my uncle that we were gonna pay him 20 dollars each one of us to take us. Keep in mind that it was just two drives for us meanwhile 4 for him eachday. But one of the friends who was going at last moment said im not paying 20 dollars and convinced the other two to not pay. They canceled at last moment and put me in a dificult position with my uncle. He still took me to the exams but now my family is disappointed of my friends for backing up their words. They found someone to take them but just for two days and tomorrow is the last day. They are texting me right now to tell me if they can go with me but im just ignoring them. And the friend who refused to pay the 20 dollars was telling other people how stingy my uncle was and what was he thinking for asking for 20 dollars its not he’s was taking us to dubai. That’s what made me mad. Her talking bad about my family when it was the other friend who suggested the price. I don’t care if they dont find anyone to go with to the exams and miss the finals. Im a very forgiving person but when it cones to family im not. I dont know if uts the stress or this incident but I’ve distanced myself from those three friends.
Sorry for my English

GM To Pause Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra Production At Fort Wayne Plant

https://preview.redd.it/6zhjhs1qf63b1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=41af9ef7287aacf6fad17ef937d942317ac5a17a
GM plans to pause production of the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks for two weeks at one of its truck plants, starting in late March. The pause will take place at GM’s Fort Wayne Assembly plant located in Indiana, and will begin on the week of March 27th, 2023.

The production pause is intended to “help maintain optimal inventory levels” according to Cherry Weiland, the Fort Wayne facility’s Assistant Plant Director. GM wants to “proactively” keep inventory within certain limits, The Detroit News reports, targeting a 50 to 60 days supply that roughly matches the 60 days supply preferred by the auto industry before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chevrolet slightly exceeded this inventory optimum in December 2022. Production and shipment continued improving during that month, while sales remained basically flat. As a result, inventory at dealerships climbed to just above 60 days.

During December, it was noted new vehicle supply rose 66 percent year-over-year, but sales increased just 2 percent. Analysts noted this would lead to growth in incentives and discounts to move new vehicles off lots faster. New vehicle prices and interest rates are high while used car prices are dropping, causing an exodus of customers from new vehicle sales as they look for a thriftier used option.

GM CFO Paul Jacobson stated in the January 31st earnings report that The General is actively managing production to match up supply with demand. A backlog of unsold Chevy Silverado truck inventory is currently adding up with 100 days supply reported at the end of January 2023.

The two-week pause will give demand to catch up with supply and clear out some of the accumulated Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks. GM’s three other full-size truck facilities in Flint, Michigan, Canada, and Mexico will continue operating and producing vehicles while Fort Wayne Assembly is shut down. The Chevy Silverado is the top seller among the Bow Tie’s nameplates.

GM anticipates $10.5 billion to $12.5 billion in adjusted earnings for 2023 despite slackening demand, with inventory management such as the two-week idling of Fort Wayne Assembly already accounted for in its financial forecasts. February sales volume should be sustained by fleet sales according to some analysts.

2023.06.06 23:28 Ok-Statistician-6553 I’m truly embarrassed and ashamed that I’ve gotten to this point

I got married earlier this year and because we had no help from either of our parents, we were left to pay for our wedding with our own money (which is totally fine, I’m not trying to complain just explaining the situation). I had saved about $20,000 that I ended up using to pay for my nursing program out of pocket. Looking back, I would’ve been better off using my life savings for our wedding and just getting a government student loan, but I can’t go back in time, and I can’t change things. From our wedding, I put the majority of it on our credit card, because I am just a nurse (i work in a pediatric cicu), I don’t make that much money. I now have about $25,000 in credit card debt. This truly is super embarrassing that I let it get this bad as a am typically very good with my money. I am wishing now that we would have just eloped but again, I can’t change the past. However, I am looking to possibly consolidate the credit card debt, or at least get a lower interest rate there’s something else. After doing some research, the “national debt relief“ website looks like it may be a good option, but I want to get some other peoples input into this. My goal is to have the credit card debt paid off by the end of 2024. Does anyone have any insight to this or any other suggestions? I’ve been picking up 1 to 2 extras per week (working 56 hours a week with dying kids which isn’t ideal) to start paying down the credit card debt but I’m still interested in getting a third-party involved to help. Any suggestions? I also just want to mention that I’ve cut down all of my bills as much as I can, but with the cost of living and the prices of things skyrocketing, it’s not like I can go without food or gas to get me to work so I don’t need any suggestions about cutting my bills down! Just some insight as to a third-party I can get involved to help consolidate and get a lower interest rate! Thanks!!!

2023.06.06 23:19 waterfall74 Suggest a Benz for my needs

Hey guys,
I'm a passionate driver of my Mercedes C63 Convertible from 2019. But as I move to Switzerland and have to travel 1400 to my home town in Germany every second weekend for avout a year, I don't really feel too keen on doing it with my car, because - you guys know it - it's super expensive. I kinda want something cheap (price and gas), resilient and reliable, which has a lot of room to transport stuff and in which I could sleep comfortably in, when I drive to the beach. I also want to pull a heavy trailer with it. Price shouldn't be more than 7000 Euro.
I thought about an E-, R- or M-class (from arouns 2004-2009, with 160 to 240 HP) but maybe you guys have another idea. The V-class/Vito is quite expensive, because of people using it as a campervan.

2023.06.06 23:05 Final-Cauliflower749 Better car-- what makes sense?

A few years ago, I purchased a used 2014 Mazda for $13K all cash in a buyer-friendly market. Today, despite the additional ~20K miles, the list price for the Mazda is similar if not higher. Feel lucky about that!
I live in a state where there are several credits for electric cars (on top of federal credits) and gas is expensive.
I can comfortably hit my monthly savings goals / spend needs with ~1K left to spare. If I don't get this car, the additional money goes toward savings.
I'm considering leasing/purchasing an electric car that could similarly hold value. I'm not super well versed on the motions of the used / new car markets, and wondering if this could make sense at all.
