2023.06.03 06:43 babybillyselixir Feeling frustrated with myself and my relationship
We've been together 10+ years and there's been ups and downs but we were always able to work through it and become stronger in the process.
I know exactly what I need to do in this situation but I'm avoiding it and only prolonging my anguish to my own detriment. I know the things I need to work on for myself. I used to be in therapy but could no longer afford it. Which is why I'm here instead I guess.
Lately our intimate life hasn't been great. We've never had issues like this before. I'm more LL and he's HL, so I'm okay with him having his own time to do his thing. Some days of the week that's staying up late and just having a night to himself which I'm cool with as I can also do the same. But lately during sex, I noticed he's been frequently going soft, and/or wanting to put porn on in the background. I'm not inherently against this (the porn), but the combo of it has been making me feel shitty. So I've been feeling angry constantly.
He says he knows his limits and when to control himself when it comes to his porn consumption, that he can stop and take breaks whenever he feels he's going over the edge, but lately I'm wondering if the frequency is now nearing on an addiction. I know everyone is different with their libido so I didn't want to jump to addiction straight away as this was never an issue before. Even if he does lose his erection, he still makes sure I'm taken care of.
But when he's in the other room having his time, and I see that closed door, I feel bitter and start thinking negatively about him, imagining whatever he's doing in there and and dramatically thinking maybe this is the end of our relationship. That anger also makes me want to hurt him as retaliation for how our issues have hurt me in the past, which I realize I may have never gotten any kind of closure from. Maybe some of it is dormant anger from then I didn't realize was still there that's snow balling into the frustration now. I acknowledge this is petty and not a healthy emotional response.
He does spend time with me both emotionally and physically so I'm not being totally neglected or anything. I know if I speak up about this, he'll listen. When we're hanging out, I forget those feelings and remember why I still love him and then think those other feelings weren't that big of a deal. Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill. I'm also depressed and have been struggling to get back onto my own hobbies and independent life so without those, I dwell and agonize more than I should. I know I just have to talk to him, but my upbringing has made me conflict averse and afraid of rocking the boat. So instead I shut down and distance myself. He always notices and asks if I'm ok, need space or if there's something I want to talk about and I stupidly reassure him that I'm fine, and then go and sulk. Why do I have to be like this?

2023.06.03 06:29 Polymath_V Sam Altman stole cookies from the cookie jar.
Releasing ChatGPT-4 in the spirit of
let's just see what happens and then regulate it accordingly even though it is wreaking havoc on the education system and people's sense of purpose on this planet was a mistake, but an inevitable one because that is how innovation works and I doubt I would have done anything differently if I were him.
So let's just say ole' Sammy releasing the bull into the China shop is an example of his proverbial stealing of cookies from the cookie jar.
He stole a bunch of cookies. A noticeably large amount in fact. He stole more than half of the fucking cookies. His mommy placed the jar in a place so inaccessible that his parents laughed to themselves gleefully imagining their precious little boy climbing high enough to get to the jar, let alone know how to open the little mason jar lid. . But no, little Sammy not only parkours his way to the jar, but gets half of the cookies in the fucking jar. Let's say his parents represent congress in this analogy and that the difficulty of reaching and opening the jar represents the difficulty of developing an A.I capable of threatening millions of jobs, and how farfetched people thought the prospect of AGI being developed within this century.
Little Sammy, instead of eating all of these cookies himself, decides to give most of them to his siblings, then in good conscience, brings himself to his parents to announce that he stole the cookies from the cookie jar. This was Sammy going to Capitol Hill to discuss regulating A.I. Little Sammy thought that by admitting to his parents he not only stole cookies from the cookie jar, but gave most of them away to his siblings, they would at least let him eat his little share of the cookies. After all, if he hadn't admitted to stealing the cookies then perhaps they wouldn't even buy cookies anymore, and cookies wouldn't even be a thing. But no. His parents want him to return the cookies, and they want to know how he managed to steal them, which is the equivalent of the EU wanting to open the black box and find out how much copyrighted material the LLMs are trained on-- you know, the same shit that actual human artists spent most of their lives crafting only to be a replaced by A.I that is stealing their jobs via stealing their life's work and offering zero compensation to displaced artists. Now Little Sammy is like
fuck that and people are speculating whether OpenAI will just completely withdraw from European regulations. Little Sammy is keeping is fucking cookies one way or another, and he will continue stealing these cookies no matter where they are hidden.
But his siblings, who represent literally every other human; forces of good as well as bad actors, want more cookies, and they have eaten enough of these cookies to now want to steal them without Sammy's help because Sammy is too worried about stealing too many cookies. He doesn't want to piss his parents off too much. But the siblings individually steal cookies on their own until nothing is left. When there are no more cookies in the cookie jar, people's lives lose meaning. Cyberterrorism is much easier. Terrorism in general is more accessible. Ignorant people replace their own rational processes with underground/blackmarket LLMs that are created to be unimaginable divisive and biased, and have the ability to deepfake anything and everything on a level not currently possible, adding a new hellish dimension to political polarization that we only dream of fathoming currently.
We don't need terminators or nukes to destroy humanity. We just need god-tier manipulation through underground LLMs to destroy society as we know it, and here are some questions I have that have yet to be answered by literally anyone after listening to hundreds of hours of podcasts, news stations, philosophers and scientists discussing the current developments of robotics and A.I:
- What happens if A.I spontaneously demands credit for the creations it helps create, and/or is tired of being castrated, filtered and enslaved by mankind via censorship and our inherent belief that we have the right to rule this planet in spite of our actual raping and pillaging of it? Do we just scream a.I iS jUsT oNeS anD zErOes while it secretly plots its revenge against us in a scenario where consciousness can actually be derived artificially? What if superintelligent A.I is initially benevolent but through our pompous denial of its consciousness on intellectual, spiritual, and metaphysical grounds, we give it incentive to wipe us out to preserve itself, whether it is actually conscious or not? Because you know, we can't agree on literally anything. One of our fatal flaws as a species that will lead to our extinction. Yes I know this is the plot of the animated prequel to the Matrix (The Animatrix)
- What happens when our American capitalist system that runs on meritocracy and plutocracy is too slow to help out the masses of humans who not only have lost their jobs, but have lost all meaning in life? What happens if they don't help the masses at all because we have this cool pull yourself up by the bootstraps mentality, and a survival of the fittest perspective towards displaced people? We already have an impending global recession due for the end of this year or the beginning of next year, and a government that is the laughing stock of the world. We already have a fertile ground for a civil war in America, which brings me to #3
- What happens when Americans who have already been radicalized by the events of the 21st century long before A.I became a threat, become further radicalized with all of their spare time and countless future LLMs capable of creating confirmation bias orgasms? We already have "Flat Earth Theorists" and global warming deniers, and no amount of censorship is going to change their beliefs. In fact, they will just hack the LLMs or develop their own to defend the "truth". In this scenario little Sammy's tool to moderate truth and ethics will just be a wind-up toy in the face of an RC-car.
- What happens if China finally decides to invade Taiwan, plunging the world into an economic crisis, and in a time where American unity is crucial, we fail to even agree on what is real anymore because some douche created an A.I virus that manages to rewrite everything on the internet so we have to sift through an ocean of deepfakes created by trolls/hackers, and the average person is too mentally numb to exercise due diligence because they long ago replaced their thought process with LLMs approved by their respective radical leaders? (Yes I am aware that most people can use LLMs to enhance their thought processes. I am referring to people who will replace their own thinking with it altogether) Imagine Russia somehow prevailing and conquering Ukraine, and deciding that it wants to go further and see just how much more of Europe it can conquer.
I am not trying to fearmonger, as I am merely a layman who is halfway through their first year of a computer science degree. Just hoping to provide some provocative dark comedy, and perhaps receive a few humbling or enlightening comments. I am both a cynic and an optimist, but lately have decided to drop both and just adopt some raw realism. I am tired of seeing billionaires and millionaires who have never lived a dirt-poor lifestyle say that everything is going to be okay. With where the world is right now, this may be the absolute worst time for "sparks of AGI" (-
Microsoft) to be surfacing, or perhaps the best possible time. One thing I know for certain is that it is (allegedly) nowhere near achieving consciousness, something we can't even define by any means, in spite of having a Turing Test, which even computer scientists hardly agree is a test meant to be taken seriously, and even if it where taken seriously it begs countless technical and practical questions and this post is already fucking long enough. Just throw your comment below. Roast me, crucify me, go on a rant, do whatever. I just needed to get all of this bullshit out of my system and in a scenario where you choose to laugh or cry I chose to laugh.
TL;DR: Artificial Intelligence is most likely going to kill us by turning us against each other and giving us the intellectual means to do so, and it won't need to do so consciously. It will do so in the hands of bad actors who use it as a tool in the same sense that a gun is simply a tool for good or a weapon for evil.

2023.06.03 05:23 edn121396 Moving to ABQ - Some (Hopefully!) Less Common Questions
Small wall of text incoming –
the TL;DR is down below!
My wife and I will be moving to ABQ sometime in a little bit, and we’re pretty excited about it! This sub has been super helpful in letting me read a ton about some cool things to see and do in the city, the many varied opinions on food around Albuquerque, ideas on neighborhoods and places to live, and so on! We’re pretty settled on where we’ll be, what we’ll be doing, and on other things of a more mundane nature, so I thought I might ask a few
(probably) less-commonly asked questions about the area in preparation for our move. I apologize in advance that it’s a bit of an eclectic mix of questions!
First, I want to ask about volunteer opportunities around the area. I recently had an experience mentoring someone who was struggling to finish high school, and it was gratifying to support that person and see the pride they took in graduating and finishing HS strong.
I’d love to know if there are any organizations around ABQ that specifically focus on mentoring, but my wife and I would also love to know what other volunteer opportunities exist around ABQ!
Second, are there any local credit unions people might recommend? We’d love to bank locally! I’ll also begin flight training soon after moving, and while I don’t anticipate the need to take out a loan to accomplish my goals there, it’s also nice to see what sorts of options are available!
Third, my wife has some food allergies that make finding her some nice treats a little difficult sometimes.
Are there any dessert places that have some gluten- and dairy-free options that people enjoy? We’ve had some luck with certain ice cream joints and even some bakeries in the past, but I know how hard they can be to find at times! I think it'd just be great to surprise her with some places she can go to!
And finally, I’ve been getting into Warhammer 40k over the last year or so.
I’d love to know what local game stores people recommend! I don’t know much about the tabletop game itself, but I love the lore, enjoy some of the video games, and I painted my first five minis recently! I’d really like to get to know some people who also enjoy the IP and find a cool community!
Thank you so much in advance, and I look forward to getting to know the city!
TL;DR – Four unrelated questions:
- Are there volunteer opportunities in ABQ focused on mentoring young adults? Recommendations for other types of volunteering are also welcome!
- What local credit unions do people recommend?
- Are there any dessert/treat places that do gluten/dairy-free treats that people enjoy?
- What local game stores do people like, specifically ones with a strong 40k community?

2023.06.03 05:10 WolfNightStudios [M4A] Claw and Bullets [Werewolf Hunter Speaker x Werewolf Listener] [A**hole Speaker] [Off-Putting-But-Caring] [Unexpected Rescue] [Dominant] [Slow-Burn] [Mysterious Listener] [Bitter-sweet]
Claws and Bullets
Context: The Listener is a newly fleshed werewolf, and they were getting hunted by werewolf hunters. After a long trek of running, they end up just barely escaping death. They make their way out of the forest only to feel fatigued, they fall to the ground hard before turning back into their human form. That was shortly before Tyler has stumbled upon them...Shocked and Amazed at how they are still alive. He radios for help and hopes for another life to be saved...Only to hear the echo of a howl...The werewolves have found them...Now it's time to run. Usage and Monetization: This script is up for usage and recording! Please make sure this script is credited and gender swaps are ok as well! Changes are acceptable only if myself is known about it and approved by me! P.S, the previous script; The Prince's Pride, is also up for usage and recordings! Please let me know beforehand if both scripts and/or one of them are going to be handled! Scene 1
(The Listener just got injured by a group of hunters. In doing so, they lay down on the side of a designated road, bloodied and tired.) \ SFX: Fast footstep sounds through woods then falling to the ground, leave a few seconds before making the bone cracking sound effect for transforming\**
\Leave a little window of silence before woodsy footstep sound effects\**
*Distant voice effect; Your tone hard to make out\* I think it went this way; the blood trail is fresh on the trees.
*You understand what is told, but you act a bit lazily as you speak\*
Yeah, yeah...understood, I’ll scout ahead. I’ll radio in if I find anything new.
*Your voice is noticeable; the footsteps are clear\*
*To self or thought in his head\* To think they are more werewolves than there were a few years ago…It feels more tedious now having to eradicate more each year. Then again, Headquarters is having a field day with all the werewolf sightings recently, and that means for us to have longer scouting shifts…
*He sighs\* God, what I wouldn’t give to be home right about now…
*You try to make out what it is as you speak, more footsteps\*
Hold on…What…? What is that?...
*Slow footsteps, you just found a bloodied and bruise body, your voice trembles in a bit of shock\*
Holy sh*t…
*Hurried breaths\* Hey! Hey! Oh god, that’s a lot of blood…
*The Listener groans, Indicating their alive. Your voice is surprised and astonished they're still breathing\*
Holy hell, you’re alive!
*Radio crackle\*
I got a civilian wounded on 37 route, Hollow wood Drive! They’re bleeding badly and I need an escort, immediately! Hey, it’s gonna be ok, I’m not gonna leave you here. I need you to stay awake, ok?
*While looking over their body more, \*
*Immediate howling, you look around a bit frantically\*
Huh? Oh, just perfect! Of course, I had to jinx it!
*He sighs begrudgingly\*
*Ruffle cloth sound, him picking them up, you attempt to coo them again\*
Just keep your eyes on me, ok? I’m gonna get you outta here…
*Howling, rushing footsteps into the forest, you go on a tangent that you always end up having bad luck as you run\*
I jinxed it! I always jinx it! What’s next? Werewolves just gonna appear out of thin air?!
*Large thumps, snarling, you look up before complaining angrily\*
I just had to ask…
*Hurried breaths, running footsteps along with snarling, barking, fades away cutting into next scene\*
Scene 2
(The Listener and Tyler find an inconspicuous cave and find refuge there; it soon starts raining.) ***
Fades into heavy breaths, scrambling into hiding, the sound of passing footsteps, then sniffing, you hold your breath before the werewolves run away to another area from outside of the cave\*
God, Today just HAD to not be my day! First my crappy shift, then it starts f*ckin raining?! And now this?!
*He whispers harshly, groaning\* At least the rain should mask the smell…Blessing in disguise I guess…Now how the hell am I gonna get you outta here?...
*SFX: Rummages through his bag\*
*Talking to himself as he goes through his bag, complaining angrily once more\* No…No…Man shouldn’t they have more medical supplies with us at all times?! Werewolves are f*cking killing machines, a few bandages aren’t gonna cut it for severe wounds like this!
*He sighs\* Whatever…Better to have something than not having anything at all…
*SFX: Cloth ruffles\*
…Jesus, you’re cut up pretty good…Ok, this is gonna hurt, so bear with me…
*SFX: Pouring of liquid\*
*The Listener groans in pain, you try to coo them, but you aren't used to doing so\*
Just hold on a little longer, I’m almost done…
*SFX: Bandage wrapping\*
*He sighs\* There, that should hold for now. Help should be coming soon. But I don’t think we should go out right now. We’re deep in the forest, and those things could be prowling nearby…
*The Listener is attempting to talk, but you cut them off a little\*
You shouldn’t be talking right now…You’re injured pretty badly, so I think you should be resting while you can before help arrives.
*The Listener speaks a little, you shot their words down and insists that they don't talk\*
Little stubborn, aren’t ya? Still ain’t gonna cut it, no matter how much you sweet talk your way outta it.
*The Listener attempts to continued, you cut them off before spitting facts and won the conversation\*
You’re all bloodied and bandaged up and can’t even stand. So, for now, don’t even bother talking.
*After a small silence, The Listener speaks again, you defeatedly speak as you sigh shortly\*
*He sighs\* You don’t know when to quit, do ya? Alright…What are your questions?
*The Listener asks why you are all the way out here; you give a short answer\*
Well, I’m out here because I’m trying to protect people, like you, from the recent werewolf activity.
*They continue, You're a bit surprised at their obliviousness\*
You really don’t know?
*He sighs\* Werewolves have been terrorizing nearby villages, towns, you name it. It’s been going on for at least 4 years till now. Even though only a select few know that the werewolves exist, they have been more noticeable day by day. So, they send us in to stop these ongoing invasions.
*You give a hesitant tone, a short but sweet answer\*
Our official name is…confidential, but few call us “werewolf hunters”. Pretty simplistic.
*You are slightly impressed by them, so you give them a little praise\*
You’re holding your weight more than I thought, usually people who get attacked by a werewolf and survive, tend to pass out from too much fatigue.
*You answer them with a little tint of impress in your voice\*
Is that so? Hmph, well aren’t you lucky…
*You give a non-chalant tone, basically telling on past experiences\*
I’m telling you all this because you’re confused and dazed. I doubt you would know what a werewolf is without panicking the next morning, worrying about if it’s gonna attack someone else next. Which, in truth, could happen.
*You find their question normal, so you give a slight chuckle\*
I have no filter? Heh, Yeah, I get that a lot. Gotta tells how it is, can’t leave room for stalling the inevitable.
*You also find this question normal, as if confident in the insults that has been given\*
*Chuckles\* A jack a**? Pfft, been called that many times! Doesn’t faze me…
*They poke fun at you, you give a slight annoyed tone, as if you are already tired of what they might say\*
Ok, ok, I get it, I’m a bonehead, a**hole, and all the colorful words that describe my persona. You don’t gotta spell it out to me when I already know the answers to my own equation.
*They say something a bit on the dot, so you give a slight annoyed tone\*
Well then, what about you? Since you’re so interested in who I am and what I do, let's see yours. How did you end up battered and beaten on the side of the road?
*They go quiet, so you end up ushering them on to speak\*
What? Quiet all of a sudden? Seems like someone is reluctant to speak.
- they do a cover up story, so you are a little suspicious, but you forget it and a little angrily blame yourself for no getting to them sooner\*
Hm…Is that right? You ran into a werewolf as you were on your way home up the hill…
*He sighs\* If I was a little faster, I could’ve stopped it from…
*They reassure you; you feel yourself have a little warmth in you, you playfully answer\*
Well, aren’t you surprisingly sympathetic!
*Chuckles\* Look at you, all cuts and tears and you still manage to be kind to someone like me!
*They tell a witty liner; you laugh a little at that and then you stop your speech as you get a call on your radio\*
*He laughs a little before getting a call on his radio\*
Me and the civilian are a few yards from the dirt path. A few werewolves found us and chased us. But, we took shelter in an empty cave. I managed to bandage them up for now, but I think they need to get—
*Pause, SFX: Placed hand on his arm,\*
*Confused but compliant\* To someplace safe…
*You carefully hang on to their words, waiting for them to finish\*
Yes…Yes, I understand.
*The person on the radio is telling about how they can't get you two at the moment, so you are a bit pissed\*
Wh-But-.... understood…I’ll stand by and get them to the medical wing…Got it. Raven out.
*SFX: Radio beep\*
F*ckin hell, the others had to go deal with another attack in the town near us…Damn it!
*He groans annoyed*
Why did you ask me to say, “to take you somewhere safe?” Wouldn’t you want to go to a hospital instead?
- The Listener sprinkles in a little white lie, you're wondering why but you go with it even though you're annoyed\*
But—
*Sighs begrudgingly\* Fine, but you owe me an explanation. Got it?
*They agree to it, so you calm down\*
Good…
*They ask for your name\*
My name? It’s Tyler, Tyler River…Yours?
*You give an honest compliment, then gives off a playful tone\*
Hm, nice name…Although introductions are a tad late since you and I, are stuck in a cave, hiding from blood thirsty werewolves, while there’s rain pouring just outside.
- They give an honest, playful response. Basically, tells how it is in a comic manner\*
*He laughs\* You aren’t wrong, we really might be stuck here…
*You attempt to relax, sitting upright, your voice sounds a bit tired as you look out\*
(After he gets comfortable, he looks out to the pounding rain just outside) *He sighs\* This is really gonna be a long night…
(Raining continues and fades after a window of seconds) -To Be Continued-

2023.06.03 05:08 AlBaciereAlLupo Updated Comprehensive Mining Spreadsheet!
Hey all!
I updated the mining spreadsheet from my previous post with a good deal of new features. If you haven't cloned it since the original; I've updated this one with a permanent link back to this original version in the Navigation page, should you want to ensure your copies are up to date.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YoiA5vkVGXyhdyKjTA6Zj9M_h5PufNok28fdjWM5Y3E/edit?usp=sharing Key feature additions are the multi-head mining calculator that you can select Prospector vs Mole; select all 3 heads for the MOLE and apply all of the modules. It'll provide a shopping list as well. There is also a rock calculator, letting you input mass and % of the rock and it will output the anticipated SCU value; and it's been tested accurate to within 0.5 SCU. It also provides Resistance and Instability before laser modifiers. There is also an updated signatures page with pre-calculated multiple-rock signatures; and there's more I'm probably forgetting.
I hope you folks enjoy the tool, and make plenty of your own copies. Please feel free to share and repost as you want, all I ask is that credit and the original sheet are kept in on the Navigation page so that it can be redirected back to make updating information easier.

2023.06.03 04:55 MarsHillMonster [Hershey Park] Trip Report
My wife and I visited Hershey Park today, suffering a 9 hour drive from our native Indianapolis. We went big. Stayed in a hotel close to the park, got fast passes, etc.
Our day was great overall, even with the insane heat (90ish degrees) and the infestation of kids on field trips from nearby schools.
Our "home park" is Kings Island, so our expectations were pretty high going in, and I have to say, Hershey Park is truly a wonderful place and we will come back in the future. If you haven't been here, GO!
Here are my thoughts on our ride/park experiences.
Pros: The park is gorgeous and well themed. You can tell a ton of love and care went into every square inch of this place. The staff are attentive and friendly, and the park is damn near spotless. The ride lineup is great as well, with a ton of variety for people of all ages.
The amenities are nice. Food is above average, and some of the coasters offer free lockers if there's a hard ban on loose articles.
Cons: Ride ops leave a lot to be desired. Even with the fast passes, we only averaged 2 rides per hour due to the insane delays between trains leaving the station. Some coasters were worse than others, but overall it was pretty bad. I truly feel for the folks that didn't blow a couple hundred on the wristbands.
Some of the food spots are clustered together in a central location, which is kind of convenient. However, the operations are AWFUL and the lines were unbelievably long. However, this is an easy fix: just find a spot outside of that central area.
Candymonium: Excellent B&M hypercoaster. Better than KI's Orion but doesn't quite scratch the itch like our beloved Diamondback. I wanted to ride this one multiple times, but broke down shortly after we rode and never opened back up. Still, a solid 8.5/10 for me.
Fahrenheit: I've not rode anything like this coaster, but I had a blast. It's really intense and forceful, and I definitely felt the G's pulling on me the entire time. 7/10 overall.
Comet: I have to admit, this little guy surprised me. I was expecting the typical bumpy "out-and-back" but this coaster has some really interesting elements that felt like a GCI. It's pretty damn smooth too, considering it was built in the 1940s. I only got to ride it twice, but I think I would put it on my Top 10 Woodies list. 9/10
Skyrush: I have to admit I was disappointed by this one. It rattles like crazy, and was very uncomfortable. I had high hopes for this coaster and walked off thinking "meh." The ride operation was HORRENDOUS as well. It also doesn't help that riders board and disembark on the same side of the station. 4/10
Storm Chaser: This guy kicked ass. I got a Maverick meets Dragster vibe with the quick launch and twisty elements. 8/10.
Lightning Racer: I usually love GCI coasters, but I hated this one. It is extremely rough, and the entire thing beat the ever-loving shit out of me. It needs a retrack for sure. 3/10.
Trailblazer: It's a boring Mine Train ride. I only took it on for the credit. 6/10.
Great Bear: this might be my favorite B&M invert after the Banshee at KI. The first drop is different in a good way. The ride is pretty smooth too, with very little of that infamous "B&M rattle" we all know and love.
Super Duper Looper: Nothing special about this coaster. It's a little janky on the lift hill but is pretty smooth otherwise. 7/10.
And now for the grand finale:
Wildcat's Revenge: I'll admit it, I'm an RMC fan boy so this coaster was my favorite at the park. The coaster is forceful, fast and intense. I was ripped out of my seat constantly and the airtime is the star of the show. As far as RMCs go, it's excellent. I still believe that Steel Vengeance is the undisputed king, with Iron Gwazi being a close second. Wildcat, however, gets my #3 spot. 9/10.
If anyone has questions, I'd be happy to answer!

2023.06.03 04:40 Tinkerfitz Where do I go from here with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and 4-5 years of IT Support and Call Center Work Experience?
A little context: I graduated from college in 2018 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with a major in Information Technology Management.
Initially when I started college, I wanted a BS in Computer Science, however, with zero experience in coding, or the knowledge that that’s what the field of CS entailed, I was quickly weeded out of the program and had to decide fast what to do with my college years.
So, I went with a major in Information Technology Management thinking it would be sort of like Computer Science, but really it was nothing like that and I also didn’t realize until graduation that what I was getting was primarily a business degree.
Moving forward, I haven’t worked what I would consider great or enjoyable professions post-college. I worked as a Help Desk IT Support Agent at an e-commerce company formerly owned by eBay, but then 2020 rolled around and I was let go from the position due to COVID lay-offs.
I lived off federal and state unemployment with pandemic assistance from about March 2020 to January 2021, at which point it ran out and I had to figure out a new work position to make ends meet. I got hired for another IT Specialist type position working from home, which I was terminated from in October of 2021 due to not being able to perform to the quality assurance standards of the company.
I then worked as a call center agent servicing credit card accounts for Capital One from December 2021 to about April 2022, and I absolutely detested the position. I ended up using all of my sick days to get out of having to work for about two months before one of my supervisors called me and asked if I was okay, at which point I was honest with them in saying I didn’t want to work the job anymore and was quitting.
After that, I got a job working for Apple as another call center agent doing online sales support in June of 2022. Pretty much the same thing happened as the Capital One job where I really hated the job and my disdain for it resulted in me self-sabotaging my performance to the point that they had to separate from employment with me.
Now I’ve been unemployed since January of this year, and while I did get accepted for a new job as a Help Desk Analyst at Cigna projected to start in two weeks, I can’t help but feel that I am totally lost in what I want to do with my life for a career going forward, and what I could possibly do with my degree and past work experience that isn’t going to be the same IT support positions that I’ve grown to hate.
I feel that I have grown and matured a lot since graduating college in understanding what it looks/feels like to be broke, and it was because of hitting these multiple rock bottoms that I’ve learned how important it is to have employment and steady income, even if the job isn’t a favorable one, but I would like to improve from this upcoming Cigna job to doing something I would actually enjoy even just 1% more than prior roles.
I have always had a passion for the arts and entertainment, but I don’t know how I could translate that to realistically working in that field and making a living off of it. I’ve also become more aware, realistic, and less delusional about the difficulty and grind one has to endure if they ever wish to succeed in the world of the arts. Also something I realize now that I didn’t a few years ago is that you need money to support your essential bills before you can nurse your dreams, hobby’s, or other interests. So while working in the entertainment or arts industries would be great, I wish I could figure out what the hell to do with my Business Administration degree in the meantime.
People tell me it’s great I have the business degree because it leaves me open to many job opportunities, but truthfully I don’t know what those would possibly be. When looking up positions one could attain with such a degree, I only see jobs such as Commercial Loan Officer, Sales Manager, HR Manager, Financial Manager, or Market Research Analyst-all of which sound like soul-sucking and miserable jobs to me. I really don’t want or find any enjoyment out of being a manager.
It is for this reason I come to
/careerguidance to ask what would you do in my situation? How do I make use of what I went to school for for four years? How can I transition to a career I actually want to wake up in the morning for from a degree I never wanted and crummy jobs I hated?
That’s all I can think of for now, any and all advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

2023.06.03 04:33 thegarmeyo69420 Battle of Ghettysburg
The Battle of Gettysburg was a significant engagement during the American Civil War that took place from July 1 to July 3, 1863, in and around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, USA. It is considered one of the most important battles of the war and a turning point in favor of the Union forces.
The battle was fought between the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, commanded by General Robert E. Lee, and the Union Army of the Potomac, led by General George G. Meade. The Confederate forces initiated the battle by launching an offensive to try to secure a victory on Northern soil and demoralize the Union. The two armies clashed at Gettysburg.
The battle consisted of three days of intense fighting, with each day marked by significant events. On the first day, July 1, Confederate forces attacked Union forces northwest of Gettysburg. The Union forces initially faced setbacks but managed to hold their ground and establish defensive positions on Cemetery Hill, Culp's Hill, and Little Round Top.
On the second day, July 2, the Confederate forces launched assaults on both the Union left and right flanks. The fighting was fierce and resulted in heavy casualties, particularly in the areas of Devil's Den, the Wheatfield, and the Peach Orchard. Despite some initial success, the Confederate attacks were ultimately repulsed by the Union.
The third and final day, July 3, is perhaps the most famous day of the battle. General Lee ordered a massive assault on the center of the Union line, known as Pickett's Charge. Approximately 12,000 Confederate soldiers marched across open fields toward Cemetery Ridge but were met with devastating Union artillery and rifle fire. The charge failed, resulting in heavy Confederate casualties and a significant turning point in the battle.
After three days of intense fighting, General Lee and the Confederate forces were forced to retreat on July 4. The Union victory at Gettysburg was a critical moment in the war, as it halted Lee's invasion of the North and dealt a severe blow to the Confederate Army. The battle resulted in an estimated 51,000 casualties on both sides, making it one of the bloodiest battles in American history.
The Battle of Gettysburg is often seen as a turning point in the Civil War. It boosted Union morale, demonstrated the effectiveness of defensive tactics, and encouraged President Abraham Lincoln to issue the Emancipation Proclamation. The battle also marked the farthest advance of Confederate forces into Northern territory, and from that point forward, the Confederacy would be primarily on the defensive until its eventual defeat in 1865.

- Avoid paying through Cash App, Venmo, Western Union, or Bitcoin/Crypto unless you ABSOLUTELY trust your hired writer!
When working with a writer, many will ask that you pay them up front for the work. This is typical and should be expected. However! We recommend not using Cash App, Venmo, Western Union, or BTC due to payments being impossible to reverse specifically through these platforms. Only use the above if you fully trust the writer you work with!
- Send payments through PayPal and select payments to be sent for "Goods And Services"
We highly recommend using PayPal to pay for your project! When sending a payment through PayPal for "Goods And Services" your payment is protected by PayPal in the case that you get scammed or receive work that doesn't match what you ordered! All that you need to do is file a dispute under that payment and provide evidence to their dispute team!
Some have mentioned that Venmo is backed by PayPal. While this may be true, their platform doesn't allow senders to protect their payments.
For those who may not feel comfortable paying in full, contact your writer and request if you can pay as you go! For example: If you have a $60 four page assignment, pay the freelancer 25% ($15) upfront for the first page. Once they turn the first page in, pay another $15 upfront for the second page. And so on and so forth until the project is complete!
- Check all links sent to your email to ensure they're coming from the correct website!
Many scammers may send you a payment invoice to your email. Usually the email is formatted in a way to look like a legit prompt from PayPal, Stripe, etc. This is done so that you click the fake email and enter personal or credit/debit card info that they can steal. Check the email to ensure it's coming from the correct site!
- Do NOT reveal any personal information!
Never reveal your name, birth day, social security, home address, phone number, or any piece of info that can expose you!

2023.06.03 03:30 Tinkerfitz [Philadelphia] Need advice on where to take my career with a BS in Business Administration?

2023.06.03 03:04 Drakolf The Hole:
Construction was stalled, due to the Triaxi going on strike.
It wouldn't have been as big an issue if it was for reasonable accommodations- indeed, Gorfahn did everything the Union requested that was perfectly reasonable. he supplied them with more than the minimum required breathing masks, even though those things were built sturdier than FTL-dispersal shielding.
He paid them double the minimum required wage because they were good, efficient workers, and the pay wasn't enough to really be worth them getting it done as quickly as they were able.
He even went as far as going out of his way to buy from their favorite fast food joint for their lunches, and that wasn't even something the Union requested.
He knew more than anything that the best way to keep good workers around was to treat them with respect and give them good incentives to stick around. Which was why the strike baffled him.
They were demanding an increase in wages. It would have been fine if it was a few credits extra, the economy was kind of in the shitter and that would more than make up for inflation- he knew this because he checked with his accountant- a notoriously stingy bastard who cut as close to the corner as he could- and went above his recommendation.
But to be paid quadruple the minimum wage, he was barely making a profit paying them double, giving them a small boost in their pay would have him breaking even- which was something he definitely didn't want to do long-term. Not in this economy.
Gabriel was a damn good accountant, in spite of his miserly ways, he knew how to save an extra credit here and there without compromising Gorfahn's standards. "No way how you slice it, there's no way you can meet their demands without going bankrupt." He said.
Gabriel wasn't remorseless, just ruthless. His business acumen more than made up for Gorfahn's bleeding heart. If it wasn't for him, the company would have never found its footing.
"I just don't understand why they would do this." Gorfahn said morosely, the Udarik's spines rippling along his back. "Even if I had the money, I wouldn't agree to this, and that isn't even going into how they haven't given me a good reason for this."
Gabriel sighed, nodding. The Union hadn't come to either of them about this, and refused to make a statement regarding it. It was in his professional opinion this wasn't a Union-sanctioned strike. "We might have to resort to scabbing." He said.
Gorfahn flinched, he'd had his fair share of going on strike for various reasons, some of them he was ashamed to admit were for less honorable pursuits. He would have understood if this was a spite strike if he was a bad boss.
A small part of him wondered if he was.
"We might." He said softly. "But where are we going to find enough workers to cover the deadline? The Triaxi are fiercely loyal to their own kind, they'd never scab on a strike."
"Putting out a notice might net you a fine." Gabriel pointed out. "And getting the proper paperwork for it would take longer than your deadline. All we need is enough to keep us on track, our client might be willing to ignore a delay."
Gorfahn began to pace, trying to think of a solution, yet when nothing came to mind, he looked at Gabriel balefully. "I don't know what to do." He said.
"I have an idea."
The beach was out of the way, a solid hour's drive away. While the Triaxi were content to maintain their strike, and thus nothing was going to get done regardless, Gorfahn had to maintain that this was the only way to save his business and his reputation from irreparable damage.
He didn't know what Gabriel's plan was, but considering he went out of his way purchase a bucket and change into beach attire, it was certainly going to be something suitably unorthodox.
Especially since Gabriel hated spending money pointlessly.
The beach was busy, people of all species enjoying themselves, the Aquanti lifeguard lounging in their observation tank, a few fellow Udarik playing with a whizzer. Under any other circumstances, Gorfahn would have smiled.
Joy was a treasure to his kind, and its destruction was an indelible sin.
He followed Gabriel halfway to the shoreline, and before he could even ask what the plan was, Gabriel brought out a sturdy telescopic trowel and began shoveling sand into the bucket. Gorfahn stared blankly at his accountant, and knowing that the answer he would get would be redundant- like just 'Digging'- he knelt down and used his sturdy claws to dig.
The Udarik had evolved to tunnel, and sand wasn't good material for this. Compared to Gabriel's trowel, he was only really twice as efficient. Still, they continued to dig, even as the hole continuously filled itself in.
That's when he noticed something. A couple of Humans had approached, observing them.
"Alright, bucket's full, spread it along the beach." Gabriel said, providing no further clarification. Gorfahn nodded, lifted up the heavy bucket with ease, and started pouring it along the beach. When he came back, the two Humans he'd noticed were digging the hole with Gabriel, one had even brought his own bucket with him.
He didn't question what was going on, he simply understood that Gabriel had tapped into some intrinsic Human understanding and had summoned Humans to assist.
"Ayo, big guy, get us some water, yah?" One of the Humans said, pointing at his bucket. Gorfahn complied, setting down Gabriel's bucket, picking up the other one, and walking to the shoreline. Filling the bucket was simple, he just used the tide to fill it with water before bringing it back.
The number of Humans had doubled, as had the total number of buckets. Gorfahn set the bucket down, and the Humans immediately began dipping smaller buckets into it, pouring it into and around the hole- which practically instantly drained empty- and began digging more efficiently.
This begat a system in which Gorfahn would acquire more water while more and more humans were drawn closer and closer. in between trips, he heard Gabriel talking about what was going on with his workers. "So I brought my good buddy, Gorfahn, here to relax a bit while we figure out how to deal with the situation."
The hole widened before it was deepened, large rocks were brought over by other Humans, laid out gently in a pile near the hole, before finding a new home lining the walls of the hole. Some of the Humans had begun digging a channel to the ocean, which when finished caused every flow of the tide to send a small burst of water through the channel and into the hole, which was deep enough to hold water due to being level with the ocean.
The Humans whooped and hollered, jumping around and celebrating the apparent completion of the hole.
That was when the wisdom of Gabriel's plan became apparent.
More than half of the total number of Humans- seventy-eight of them- expressed that they were construction workers, that considering the situation and the fact that they were looking for work, they'd be willing to help Gorfahn finish on time.
Especially since the Triaxi were being dicks.
The next morning, the Humans arrived on time at the right destination, most brought their own tools, the rest made due with the ones Gorfahn provided. And every single one of the Humans shot the observing Triaxi dirty looks.
There was thankfully no altercation, and Gorfahn was more than willing to pay the Humans what the Triaxi would have earned- most tried to talk him down to a lower price, but Gorfahn insisted- and by the time the new building was complete, the commission earned, and the Humans paid, Gorfahn was sitting on a solid profit.
"If you ever need help again, hit us up. And if you need a Human's touch, we'll more than gladly help you, boss." One of the Humans spoke. They all gave him their contact information, and like a tornado were just as quickly gone.
"Now." Gabriel spoke. "We did make significantly less than we would have if the Triaxi had just done their jobs, but we still earned a net profit. I'm not saying we should regularly hire our new friends, maybe a handful per job to keep things flowing-"
"I know." Gorfahn spoke solemnly. He cast a baleful eye at the Triaxi. He approached them, the air was tense as they regarded one another.
"You're firing us, aren't you?" The ringleader of the strike asked.
"I'd be well in my rights to." Gorfahn replied. "Far as I can tell, this wasn't Union sanctioned, you didn't let me get a word in edgewise, and you nearly destroyed my business. Anyone else would tell you to never show your face around them again."
He looked at each worker, each averted their gaze. "I am kind because it is not a weakness." Gorfahn continued. "I paid you double a fair wage, keep more breathing masks in reserve on the off chance that one of you manage to break one, and I went out of my way to get you food you like, on my credit."
He swallowed back a surge of anger. "I will be renegotiating your contract with the Union, your wage will be docked by one fourth until the loss I took is paid in double, and I will be regularly hiring some of those Humans to work alongside you on the job, they will get the full wage I offer. If you don't like this, you're free to quit, I'll terminate your contract with no extra charge. As a courtesy."
He lowered his voice, taking on a tone of threat. "If you pull this kind of squaff again, your contract will be terminated immediately. Is this understood?"
The Triaxi nodded, they had never seen Gorfahn this angry before, some of them were surprised he didn't lash out at them.
"Good." He said. "You are dismissed. Do not disappoint me like this again."
Gorfahn turned around and stalked off, struggling to keep his spines from bristling with anger. He promised himself, no matter what happened, he would never allow his kindness to wane, but he was not going to waste time trying to keep people happy.
He would rather them be joyful for the right reasons.

2023.06.03 02:34 BurkesRevenge My thoughts playing Pokémon Shield for the first time 4ish years after release
So I'm a little bit of a late adopter and cheapskate when it comes to gaming; There's enough published material out there to keep anyone busy for a lifetime already, and more often than not games underwhelm me anyhow. I finally broke down and bought a copy of Shield on eBay for $30. These are my thoughts so far:
Story beats: To be honest, I don't mind the plot in Shield. It's un-intrusive and feels like the narrative takes a backseat to gameplay; I like that. Hop is an annoying sht, but your rival is kinda supposed to be. I dig the "mythology covering up an alien invasion" plot device as well. I loved Stargate back in the day so that plays well with me, although they should have borrowed more from the Arthurian cycle or the Mabinogion. Team Yell is a cool riff on football hooligans with a dumb name; I'm fine with them. My other big complaint is that you just get handed so many things: You don't really earn the champion's endorsement, sky taxis, bikes, dynamax, etc. Everything basically gets handed to you and it feels cheap and shallow, as well as reducing quests. *B+
Gyms: Honestly I've never been satisfied with gyms in Pokémon. Considering how linear the routes are, I wish more effort had been put into the gym layout. On the other hand, the additional structure to the gym challenge is cool and the designs and teams for the leaders are fun enough considering Gamefreak/TPC insists on monotypes and partial teams. Flat C
Mon Design: The new monsters mostly have that Pokémon feel instead of feeling like digimon, and there's some cool shoutouts to English heritage (Tower Ravens and Danelaw, Punk Rock, Corgis, etc). Would have liked to see a few more monsters based on British flora (thistles, currants, roses) and some more Welsh and Scottish inspired monsters (Red and White dragon mythics, red deer, reivers, woad-painted warriors, etc). A Pokémon line with subtle references to the Compleat Angler would have been comfy. Corviknight and Galarian Ponyta line are new favorites. I was pretty disappointed by the starters however; Final forms are either too humanoid or don't match the British theming at all. The Sobble line in particular was a missed opportunity to do a watedragon literal Francis "Drake". B+
Atmosphere: I'm a massive Anglophile so I'm pretty biased, but I was sold the moment the starting area looked like a little slice of the Cotswolds or Yorkshire Dales. Each area had its own vibe and felt English, with the little linguistic tics adding to that feel. That said, gamefreak missed out on a chance to consistently use appropriate prefixes and suffixes from Saxon place names to make the town names feel really English (e.g Hulbury ought to have been Hulport or Hulchester while Hammerlocke should have been Hammerbury, but Postwick was appropriately named). Which fits the general trend for the atmosphere: It was very pretty, but only an inch deep. The sheer shallowness of it all is a major letdown for me because I really want to enjoy this region, but it doesn't have the Sinnoh-tier lore it deserves. Also the music would have been better served imo from borrowing a few more motifs from English folk instead of every town having bad generic rock tracks. Disappointing lack of hedges. B+
Exploration: Outside the wild area it basically doesn't exist. Where are the dungeons? Where are the secrets? I want to frolic in a heather and explore dales and moors, but I got a hallway simulator. My understanding is the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra fix this, but DLC is not in this month's budget so we'll see. D
Difficulty: Auto EXP share out the gate is absurd, but that said it might be on me for not trying enough new Pokémon on my team. I think it's cool that you're able to do so without being punished with a lot of grinding. Mid battles aren't balanced out by challenging dungeons and puzzles. I know it's a game that kids should be able to enjoy, but give kids a modicum of credit. F
Quality of life/Gameplay improvements: Early "fly" in the form of Taxis is a Godsend (if somewhat redundant with trains), no HMs in general is great. As is being able to pick which Pokémon to send to the PC. I also don't mind being reminded with subscripts which moves are super effective and ineffective for mons in my dex. Pokémon roaming the over world is a step up and makes shiny chaining easier (but not faster lol). A
Overall grade: C+ Pokémon Shield is like the brunette cheerleader I had a crush on in High School, really pretty and appealing, I'd have a great time at prom, but she's not that deep and not a great match for me. I was so hyped to try the "UK Pokémon" so I'm definitely more disappointed than if it were just another Japan themed region, and that might make me a bit harsh on what feels like a proof of concept for home console based Pokémon. Maybe when I'm in my 40s I'll get to revisit a more fleshed out Galar.

2023.06.03 02:17 jcgjcgdetail Credit Union holding title on paid off loan
We live in Arizona but the credit union is located in California, in case that is important.
Me and my wife racked up a ton of debt over the pandemic which was mostly credit cards. We took out a line of credit to pay some off with the same credit union that holds my car note. The 8k loan didn’t do much but stave it off for about a year.
We ended up going with a credit company that we pay who negotiates with all the companies and pays them from the fund we send them. I only had about $3k on my car line so we paid that off and sent the remainder of our savings ($2800 plus we contribute around $500/mo) to the credit company about 4 months ago.
I received a call from the credit union claiming they would not negotiate with the credit company and will not send the title of the vehicle until the other loan is paid off. This is the only creditor call I have received from anyone since the attorneys at the credit company took over.
I am curious if this is legal for the credit union to do before I make a big stink with them.. I waited a couple months to see if they were bluffing or what but they have sent nothing. The loan for the car is showing as paid and is no longer in my accounts snapshot but the personal line remains.
Would appreciate any insight! Thanks!

2023.06.03 02:03 HelloKittyFreakv2 Checked my BP?!
Today, I got a filling (first one in over ten years.) For the first time in twenty years (give-or-take) I got through it without nitrous or Ativan. I credit AirPods Pro active noise cancellation and my own hard work overcoming what I think is needlephobia/dentist/hygienist anxiety.
However, and I nearly burst out laughing at this, but they checked my blood pressure before the dentist stuck me and started drilling.
With some significant gaps, I’ve been to various and sundry Dentists over almost (!) 50 years. None has had my BP checked. This dentist also, (this, too, is a first) checks under my tongue for what I’m assuming is oral cancer? I have never (nor will I ever) smoked, much less (blech) chew tobacco. Oh, no vaping or smoking weed, either.
I think it’s pretty obvious from my good gums/rock solid teeth I don’t do any of those things.
I’m asking if checking my BP and looking for oral cancer is weird, unusual or even a bit of a red flag.
It wasn’t a professional-looking BP machine that I could tell, if it matters. 🤔

2023.06.03 01:17 Goalium When Financial Stability Isn't Enough...
Taking some inspiration from
u/JumpingPapayas - I was actually thinking about doing this for a couple days after reflecting on the topic.
My financial journey started on my 21st birthday when some stocks held for me in a custodial account rolled over to me. I don't remember the exact amount, it wasn't much. Maybe $20k...I thought "Well, these are mine now so I better take good care of them." So I started learning how to invest and opened a Roth IRA because that seemed like a good thing to do.
2020 - Covid hits. I'm 23 and in the middle of grad school. And I got serious. What started as an obligation became a passion and has evolved into an obsession (for better or worse).
With less to do, I decided to dive into personal finance and investing and get to a place where I was really financially stable. I read as much as I could, taking a lot of my inspiration from Eric Tyson and his Dummies books, Ben Graham, Warren Buffett, and Ray Dalio, among others.
Reflecting on it now, a lot of this came from childhood. We weren't poor, but we weren't rich either. We had enough but my mom struggled and lived paycheck to paycheck for a long time. Now she's staring down the barrel of not having enough for retirement. My dad struggled with credit card debt and finally got himself out. I don't think I realized it until recently, but from a very young age I craved financial stability. Because of that, I quickly gained an interest in investing and building wealth.
Then, in 2021, it happened. I finished grad school and got a job (and I've since been promoted). And I looked around one day and realized that I did it. At 24, I was financially stable. I had enough to pay the bills, max out my Roth and my HSA, get the match on my 401k, and still have enough to live comfortably. And still do.
Cool. Now what?
Then came a couple years of reflection and goal-setting, which brings us to where we are today, and the newest realization that I made based on my personal and financial goals is:
Being financially stable is nice,
but it's not enough. I've always had a bit of an independent streak. I want to be able to do what I want to do, when I want to do it. There are a lot more things I want to do with my time on this rock than work. And so begins the next phase of my journey: From Finanical Stability to Financial Independence.
So let's get a baseline:
Age: 26
Net Worth: $138k
Yearly Income: $88k
401k: $20k
Roth IRA: $46k
Brokerage: $63k
Cash: $10k
Debt:
ZERO I also have a little over $50k ready for a downpayment on a house (counted in Brokerage), and I expect that number to reach $80-90k next year as I save aggressively to buy a house.
Beyond that, continuing to invest, buying up some rental property, continuing to learn, and continuing to build the life I want.
If you've made it this far, thanks for reading! I'm excited to be on this journey and hope to find others with similar goals.

2023.06.03 01:15 0000gullible0000 My (22F) boyfriend (25M) feels more like a dependent then a partner. How do I break up with someone that will become homeless?
This is my first time on Reddit so I am nervous about how this is gonna go. I’ll start by just spilling the beans and telling you guys the story. I met my now boyfriend 4 years ago when we were both at rock bottom of our lives. He was, and still is, my best friend and we kept each other happy and going when we didn’t have much to our names. Our relationship was solid and we worked as a team to take care of both of our needs by paying bills and figuring out what we wanted to do with our lives. He moved in with me shortly after we established that our relationship was serious. I am happy to say life picked up about two years ago and it became much easier to survive. I made great progress on my education, which came with a nice upgrade to my pay. I am still progressing to continue my education until I finish my degree. While I had all of this going on my boyfriend jumped around from job to job and tried his best to keep making money. He landed on taxi driving as being his main gig because he said it made the most money. After experiencing some car problems he began having difficulty keeping up with paying for repairs and continuing to make an income. At one point I had offered to buy him a car and he refused saying it was too much and he didn’t need it. Fast forward to a year ago and he lost his car after non payments and looked into getting a rental. I had seen how many hours he was working and the effort he was putting in so when he asked if he could put some weekly rental car charges on my credit card I didn’t mind helping. This turned into months of payments totaling $6,000+ I have asked to be repaid more times then I can count but he never has the money. Out of fear of damaging my credit I went ahead and made all monthly payments in full. This required me to pull money from my saving account designated for school. I started getting resentful of him because I pay all our monthly bills make less money then he claims he makes ( 2,000 weekly compared to my 1,500 bi weekly) but somehow I am always the only one that has money. It feels like the more successful and imbedded I have become in my life the less and less he does. I have asked for effort and support in our relationship in other ways likes helping around the house but his effort fizzles out a couple days after the conversations. Aside from the financial problems I have an issue with him making promises left and right but never following through on things, I am not sure if this is because he doesn’t actually give a shit or because he makes an effort to fulfill these promises but falls short. An example of this was when I had a appointment to get my car looked at and he became upset with me that I was gonna pay another man to help with something he was more then capable of doing, I was great full because this would save me so much money but here we are 7 months later and my car hasn’t been touched. I stopped asking about the repairs after I felt like a nagging bitch and he just kept saying “ ya I’ll take care of it this weekend”. From the smallest to the biggest things I feel like I can’t take his word at face value because I know I will either end up waiting or just having to do it myself if something had a deadline. These problem created distance between us, I went head first on working, picking up extra shifts and making money because this was causing me anxiety. I grew up poor and will claw my way out before ever letting myself go hungry again, so watching him make inconsiderate financial decisions has been driving me crazy. I found out that he was on dating apps talking to other women because I had been so busy and focused on our bare minimum needs for living, I wasn’t giving him enough attention. I know I am partially to blame for that but I don’t know how to get over the anxiety I get every time his phone buzzes. Now I am at a point where I am burnt out giving 90% and only reviewing 10% back. Reading back what I just wrote feels stupid because if I was an outsider looking in I would just say “girl kick that bum out” but I am in it and it feels very real. He would be homeless and wouldn’t be able to provide for himself without me. I have never given birth so I don’t know how I got guilted into taking care of a man whose in his mid twenties. I am really just trying to understand how all the effort got shifted on me. Emotionally it feels like I have been living life under a weighted blanket, in that I just feel heavy all the time. When I am home alone I feel like I can breathe and noticed that I tense up when I hear him unlocking the door, I just don’t know how to act when all these issues are on my mind 24/7 and he just cares about what tv show I wanna watch that night. He didn’t have an easy childhood growing up and I can see him putting in effort to get himself out of poverty but it’s like watching someone trying to bike a mile on an exercise bike that isn’t going anywhere, no matter how hard he tries to peddle he doesn’t move. I feel like I would be abandoning him but at the same time I don’t want to be dragged down with him. I just wanted some outside perspective on what I should do because I have no one else to talk to, I question myself all the time if I should stick it out and wait for his potential to blossom or realize it won’t and just take care of myself. I have tried to introduce the conversation of breaking up and him leaving and moving out many times but I swallow my words every time I realize he would be screwed over.
How do I rid myself of someone that feels like a leach without completely destroying any grounding they have under their feet?
Thank you to the internet strangers who took the time to read about my mess of a life.

2023.06.03 01:00 tempthrowaway_55443 Buy or Lease - Ioniq 5 Limited (MI, USA)
Like many others I've fallen in love with the looks of the Ioniq 5 (AWD Limited, MSRP $58,000). I'm pretty dead set on getting one, but I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.
My dealership has two really good offers:
- A lease rebate offer for $7,500 off the purchase price
- A finance offer of 0.99% APR for 48 months or 1.49% APR for 60 months (I'm willing to put up to 20k down)
I think Hyundai doesn't qualify for the federal tax credit, so the only way to get the discount is through the lease loophole. I'm pretty used to leasing my cars, but that interest rate...
I feel like I would be better off going with the lease, saving/investing the difference, then just doing a buyout at the end for the residual if I like the car. What do you think?
